I purchased a set of 4 vintage dining chair yesterday from an antique shop. When I got them home I noticed stains underneath. I opened one of the chairs up and also found stains on the padding. I put all of the chairs on a white sheet and used a credit card to dislodge everything I could from all crevices and came up with some dust and dirt but no bugs. I sent the pictures to the antique shop who said it was likely mildew and not bed bugs, which they had inspected for and if it were bed bugs, the decal stains would be smaller and in the crevices. Before I bring these things in I wanted to confirm that these stains are not in fact bed bug stains.

Looks like mildew to me, no need for concern.
