Off topic. I like Star Wars Best, then Star Trek (old best, then newer verisons...I even liked Star Trek V about the whales).

I doubt there will be any responses since this is a nerdy poll. If you've been to a convention, was it more like a trip to Vegas or a trip to the BB convention in Chicago?

That's a safer bet than anything from Disney, given KQ's experience at the mouse house.

Hmmm closet Babylon5 junkie here with a collection that includes PhaseV (mutant ant film), Brazil and The Prisioner.

In fact Bab5 shadow wars reminds me of the BB world, I may have to start signing off "be seeing you".

A little off topic is good for the reduction of anxiety and far from detracting from the forum it helps us remember there is, was and will always be life before, during and after bedbugs.

PS I am going to think on the new years resolutions but DJ watch out I have a few in mind for you.

Define "younger generation" scowls lol. I'm 23 and I don't like HP or Twilight! (And dare I mention Twilight Moms?)

I definitely don't like Star Wars....at all. I used to watch the original movies from time to time when I was a kid, but I can't think of the last time I ever willingly watched one.

I've loved Star Trek TNG since I was a kid though, my grandparents baby sat me a lot and had a bunch of VHS of the series I watched all the time. and I still watch that series almost daily (there's a couple channels that will run 1 episode every weeknight, so I dvr them every day :D)

I have never been to any conventions, although Comic Con wouldn't be difficult to attend if we could ever manage to get passes before they're sold out. It's close enough that we wouldn't even have stay in a hotel (which I will never view a hotel room the same after everything I've learned)

I even prefer Fire Fly to Star Wars. Not an awesome comparison, but FF is a lot more "space cowboy" like Star Wars.

I probably was thinking of teenagers...who probably are on WAAYY cooler sites than this (no offense to Nobugsonme).

    Patrick Stewart...sigh....

Seriously, Original is my favorite, TNG is next. I really loved Troi and her mother (Majel Barrett) and Voyager was 3rd. There was another one that I can't remember the name of now. Night....

I am a Star Wars fan myself. I think I would love Star Trek but I have not taken the time to watch the various series yet.

I also like watching Twilight but only so I can shout at the screen things like,

"What?!? You're choosing the cold and DEAD vampire guy over the gorgeous ALIVE wolf-guy? D'oh!!!"

Of course, after the third movie, that one-sided conversation got a bit repetitive.

I've been to conventions but they were more "Cedar Rapids" than Comic Con. Alas.

I started and run the site but am "not an expert."

Star wars by a mile, don't get me started. It's not that I don't like the trek, but its no star wars. The movie fanboys sums it up for me, "NO ONE calls Han Solo a bitch!"

OK, who wins in a galactic battle along the neutral zone:

The Enterprise NCC-1701 (the latest model) or a Federation Battle Cruiser?

The Enterprise or The Federation Death Star?

The Enterprise or Vader's Tie Fighter?

Okay, here's a little game. A diversion, if you will, from your off-topic diversion.

Your mission, should you wish to play along, is as follows:

Cast the original star wars (#1) using people who frequent the forums (current participants only).

    Rules:
    1. You can cast only ONE role, so all have a chance.
    2. You cannot cast yourself.
    3. No meanness, please. (You know what I mean!)

    Go!

I like the JRBTNYC guess. He is very nice about posting helpful links for new people, the FAQs, etc. He is all about communication.

He asks a lot of good questions and seems to research things. At the same time, it seems to me (a newbie) that he is careful to follow the site's protocols. By this, he's pretty careful to give information that's been posted before (a link) but to also say to read up and wait for the pros.

Funny, I've been watching the original Star Trek series on startrek.com the past few days. It's my favorite. I only saw one of the ST movies, and it was ok. I must admit that I've never seen Star Wars, HP, or Twilight (zero interest in any of them, I know, I'm a freak).

Having never seen Star Wars, I can't cast any roles in it.

Who is Number 1? I love The Prisoner. I'm casting the bed bug as Rover, for keeping me in the Village. Wow, there are so many places I could go casting The Prisoner. The series reminds me of my experience with bed bugs. I was Number 6, trapped not really by bed bugs but by my own mind (and a lousy 1st PCO). I'd lend you my DVDs of the series, but I (foolishly) threw out almost all my CDs and DVDs prepping for heat treatment. Great reference David!

The Star Trek entire series is on netflix.

Occasionally I get my boys to watch it with me but they point out the significant difference between today's special effects and the painted plywood with flashing lights from the sixties/early seventies.

However, the SNL skit spoof on the NBC cancellation of the series should also be included in the boxed set.

Currently playing the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. Amazing story in this game, bioware class stuff. I can't remember the last time I watched any of the Star Wars movies though - I found the additions that Mr. Lucas added to be rather... painful, and the 2nd 'new' movies love story was so terrible that I refused to watch the 'Revenge of the sith'.

I watched all of Star Trek: TNG as a kid, but haven't seen that series for a long while. I seem to remember disliking the first season (which equated to that kid saves the ship in every episode I think) but it picked up later on.

Now I am a huge fan of Farscape, Babylon 5, and the Firefly (why did they cancel this show, why why why why why) series. I had been in the middle of watching all of Babylon 5 when netflix pulled it from their instant streaming - darned licensing.

    Hi healthimpacted,

I may even dig out the pictures from about 15 years ago when I visited Port Meirion (http://www.portmeirion-village.com/). Its an amazing place and usually full of people running around pretending that Rover is on orange alert.

I have the full box set of DVD's somewhere along with a few T-shirts. I may even have to have a work with my cartoonist to see if she can do a bedbug design with "be seeing you" on it.

    Why,

I also have to add the greatest of all the Jedi Knights - Yoda has to be LouBugs a man whose knowledge, wisdom and self control is a shinning light to all of us when fighting the evil empire.

I think Mr James gets Han Solo with his resourcefulness and the millennium falcon closet.

I will refrain from posting who jabba the hut should be although any who has been to a few BB conferences could have an idea or two.

Uh oh, it is my diplomatic duty to point out that, everyone I'm certain that you can surely see, the Jedi Council must now choose – Lou as Obi-Wan or Lou as Yoda since, dear me, certainly you are all aware, he has now been suggested for both?

Since I have already "virtually cast" the role of my most esteemed colleague and close associate R2-D2 I'm not permitted any further ones...but respectfully may I "nominate", for the Council's consideration, Lou as Yoda the consummate master and DJames as Obi-Wan the wise, the trainer, the provider to us all of tools and savvy to smite the nemesis?

Yes, it is recorded that bed-bugscouk indeed proposed DJames as Han Solo but in my humble view, might find that role most appropriately in the mirror because of Han's free-wheeling heroic take-no-guff style and constant travels galaxywide 22,000 cases wearing out the shoe "leather" if you will, and lassoing the clean sweep in bbbingo!

Unfortunately, it's a movie with one woman in it and not a terribly large cast of good guys (emphasis on "guys"). Not very well thought out on my part!

We might have to do Harry Potter next.

    David,

You posted this 2 hours ago on another thread ("dispersal")

[i]Good question and most likley my last comment for the night while in the office.

Nobugsonme noted that you aren't playing by the rules. She has a strict 2 am curfew for the East Coast PCOs...maybe we should en"force" it over the pond?

I already made a nomination for LouBugs. So, I can't vote again under the RULES. Personally, I think your associate BB Undertaker should be Princess L. To me, Nobugsonme is more like the head of the rebel forces...keeping the troops focused and organized (and cleaning up the spam/trash that comes along..I loved that scene in Star Wars)....

BB Undertaker and other hosts who work for you or other PCOs willingly go into infestations and stay for hours and hours. Nobugsonme was at the forefront of the BB communication process by creating this Board and BB Undertaker is at the forefront with what she does (and it sounds like the in depth "cleaning" is central to this process with every piece of furniture searched). The hosting is key to the process, but it is also braver than most of us understand. And Princess L was brave. She could keep that rascal Hans Solo in check, .... right?

    Hi,

I am now home and posting on the phone, hence shorter replies.

I will ask BB undertaker if she will do the princesses infamous hairdo for a pic although with the length and thickness she has it could easily make her look more like Zaphod Beeblebrox.

I think of the BBS more as the Borg, personally...in the end, didn't TNG win most of the battles? But, your comment was funny to me with my sick sense of humor.

We haven't had a nomination for Luke..young and "strong with the Force"... could this be a male someone similar to Effeci's colleague in that video who works with him steaming a badly infested room? She is a she and not a he, so maybe someone else has a nomination. I can't vote again under the Rules anyhow.

I'll get off this thread now.

I think we may have to disgegard gender in casting this movie.

I have a lot of ideas for Cilecto and buggyinsocal and spideyjg, but I also can't vote again.

Not sure who will play Chewbacca, either. And as loveable and cool as he is, some people might take it the wrong way.

Eminent Councillors...once again not *casting* but *nominating*, I suggest who else could play Luke, the great hope for the future, other than he who commands the airwave Force in multitudinous YouthTube videos, he of boundless energy and vigor, he of the passionate red hair...___________

Has anyone else noticed that the Ferengi always seem to smell of cedar?

    Wasn't that cinamin?

As far as female characters go:

There's also princess amadalalalala, her securty stand in and the queen of naboo.

    Anaken's mom.

That green alien chick dancing in jabba's lair with the tentacle things growing out of her head.

The chang-ling assasin that Anaken & O B Wan hunted down.

And, that alien chick who greeted O B Wan on kameno, the clone making planet, was kinda hot, that is, if you like really tall thin chicks.

Gotta go, I feel a tremor in the force ! pb

This is sort of the problem I am pointing out, Paul.

The options for women are: mom, princess, hot chick with weird tentacles, etc.

    Kind of limited.

Well, I hear the guys from Tatoinne are into those tentacles.

And, I'm told on Hoth, those tentacles come in quite handy in generating much needed warmth.

Fear not, it's a big galaxy, and roles for all there are.

Rest must I, tomorrow is a big day. May the force be with you, your majesty ! pb

    Indeed.

Although doesn't Princess Leia end up as ruler of the empire in the end? That's why you seemed like such a shoe-in for that role in my mind. Around these here parts, you're da boss, after all.

(You can skip the do, if you'd prefer...)

Sorry to go off topic the off topic:
I seriously have never seen the whole Star Wars Series, just bit's and pieces, however my brother has seen the first one 23 times at the theatre when it first came out, so hope that make's up for it.

    My vote for best series:
    Star Trek original
Star Trek Movies (Original Cast), except for the first one.
Star Trek Remake (Thought they did a nice job on relaunching the franchise).
    Star Trek Enterprise TV Series
Star Trek TNG (just because we so much missed having the show on TV).

    Honourable Mention to:
Battle Star Galactia (Old and New series)
    Fringe
    X-Files (of course)
    DR. Who (Current Favourite)
    Stargate Series

However did Bablyon 5 ever have an ending?
Andromeda (kinda fizzed out, but I watched it)

Oh by the way, my vote if you ever get to the Star Trek part of placing people is "Nobugsonme" as counselor Deanna Troi, I think it would be a natural fit.

    or Mama Walton?
    Goodnight Paul boy!
