We just recently moved last week. While moving our mattress, which I did not notice until we arrived, there were 12-20 small black stains on the top closest to the head of the bed. I have a passive monitor up in that exact spot and have had one for the last year. I did s a double check of the bed and wooden frame and found no other indications of bed bugs. I have checked the other two beds in our house and they’re clean.
Is it possible that the passive monitor just has not worked? Also, rationally, is it possible that they would only defecate on that one area and no where else?
I have some pictures as well. Can you explain how I can upload them so you could see the spots?

    Actual casing

My hope is that this works. The passive monitor is placed right where I found these stains. I also did not see them when we loaded the mattress on to an open trailer. When we arrived at our destination I then noticed them, the area in which the mattress was placed was where hugs and wind could have hit it. I’m just confused as to why these would be here if there was no indication on the monitor or any other area on our sheets/pillow cases/or wooden frame.
