What is that voice that says: "Go ahead and click on it" and "you have a pest problem and a pest opportunity depending on how you look at it."

This is very annoying...really...must we hear that? Or must i turn off my audio while i'm on the webpage? I did not notice this before. What's up? Honestly...it's enough to drive me away from the page.

    Nobugs?

Not doubting you but I don't hear anything when I come here. (and yes, I have my sound on right now, I have been listening to music.) Could it be from another page you have up? Do you have pop ups blocked? Just wondering where it is coming from.

I heard it today at work, it is very annoying and a wee bit creepy. I hardly find our situation an "opportunity"

Interesting. My home PC is out of commission and I may be without one for a bit. I am at work and whatever it is must be blocked (I guess thankfully) on my work computer.

whew....glad someone else heard it.....i thought for a second that maybe i was finally losing it...or maybe those darn bed bugs were trying to make a comeback or maybe they wanted me to click on something which would unleash a Hell Current Wave (whatever that is, i just made it up) of bbs to swarm out of my computer..from between the keys...from the various inputs and outputs...Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarfffferrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhh!

I"m getting the same thing. Not sure, but it appears to come on when the Climb Up Interceptor ad for US Bed Bugs appears on the bottom of the page with a "click here" memo.

After some observation, seems independent of that ad. A voice saying "go ahead and click on it" comes on about once every 30 seconds. It then says something else but can't make it out. Hopefully the site director can sort things out.

That same ad just startled me yet again: "You don't have a pest problem, you have a pest opportunity." The guy's voice makes me want to slap him upside the head.

I had a similar experience at NYC's popular Vikane provider. Had the PC piped through the bug stereo and suddenly my neighbors and I are getting a hifi pitch about BB.

I am so sorry about this and I want to fix it.

Here's the deal: I am not aware of any ads using sound and I REALLY want to identify and disable this ad, but I do not know which one it is. (I have been trying to find it but it may not be serving in my area.)

It is coming via Google, and unless I know the URL (web address) associated with it, I can't do anything. If you can see it, please let me know (but please be sure -- I don't want to eject any innocent bystanders). Please respond via email or private message. Thanks!

I started and run the site but am "not an expert."

Richard, I am on the site daily, even if you can't "see" me. Please remember you may email me at any time if you have concerns -- nobugs @ bedbugger dot com.

FWIW Im not hearing it tonight, no bugs. Its also a flash ad, which means if you save it, its not a jpg or a gif file. If it comes back, Im pretty sure I could find it by copying each ad address into a new window, last night I was just joining in the snark fest.

Dont worry Nobugs, the forum is worth putting up with a little buggy advertisement.

    HI bushbugg,

I appreciate your kind words about the forum.

One other point: an ad that tells you to "click it" is against the Google policies, so they may have discovered it somehow and eliminated it.

I do definitely want to eliminate ads which are obnoxious (sound is obnoxious IMO) or where there are other issues. Please feel free to send any complaints (with URLs if at all possible) via email.

I haven't heard it yet today....

Problem with the voice ad is it's not just annoying, it's actually frightening to hear a voice come out of nowhere. Dealing with bb's is making me paranoid and jumpy!

I know, bug-tired, and I agree 100%. It's my goal to fix this if it happens again.

    Hi Deedle,

Unfortunately, that post does not give the URL (web address) of the actual advertiser, which is what webmasters need to know to get rid of it. Complaining to Google will get me nowhere if they don't know who it is.

It does state that on the blippitt site at least, it looks like a box with nothing in it except an "i" (the symbol for Google ads).

I also googled the ad phrase and found about 5 other forums discussing this -- again, no one can name the offending company.

I am going to try and fix this ASAP but I need to know who it is. (Again, if you find out, please email me the URL directly.) Thanks!

i think this thing is designed to spread like bbs spread. It must be an advertisement that is looking for people to work in the industry since that is the only type of "opportunity" i can think of. My gut is telling me it has something to do with that cedar stuff i clicked on last week. Why do i somehow remember something like that...an opportunity...maybe not...but when i googled it again i came up with more people talking about it on all sorts of pages...like sport pages and there was a guy who said that he had a bb scare and had visited some bb websites and someone else on another web site forum recommended people stay away from pest related websites. So it may be that we're picking it up from pest related websites and taking it over to yet uninfected websites where the creepy ad stays until someone there picks it up and takes it to another site.

i don't really know if that's possible. I speak computer as well as i speak ..oh...Russian, for instance.

We need a good creepy virus -type ad infestation killer.
