    Not bed bugs. Shed skins of Anthrenus larvae -- dermestid/carpet beetle larvae.

    Professional entomologist/arachnologist. I consult on all matters dealing with insects and arachnids, including those of natural history and biology to pest management and forensic entomology investigations.

    Thanks a lot for your reply, loubugs.

    Judging by the number, location and size of the shed skin - would it be possible to know whether they are still around? I inspected the room but couldn't find any other evidence or live ones.

    I will be storing some suitcases in the room, and will use moth proofs - I am hoping that should be sufficient to protect?

    Larvae shed many times, so you can have many more sheds than there are actual live bodies. I'm sure they're still around. The sheds can become airborne; the insects live a secretive life.
