I've been humming this since the PCO came yesterday... sung to the tune of "It's a hard knock life for us" from the insipid show "Annie"and dedicated to NYJammin and all of us who kick some BB butt when we're not spending too much time online obsessing about it

It's the ziploc life for us!
It's the ziploc life for us!

    'Steada sleepin'
    We get bit!

    'Steada drawers
    We're bagging it!
    It's the ziploc life!

Where they came from we don't know,
It's the ziploc road we hoe!

    Plastic bags
    'Steada drawers!

    Cause they hide
    Inside the floors

    It's the ziploc life!

Don't it feel like the bed bugs always prowl'n?
Don't it seem like there's no sleep at night?
Once a day, don't you wanna throw the towel in?
It's easier than puttin' up a fight.

No one's there when your dreams at night get creepy!
No one cares if you itch... maybe see a shrink!
No one dries when your eyes get wet an' weepy!

From all the cryin' you would think this place's a sink!
    Ohhhh!!!!!!!
    Bed bug life!
    Bed bug helly life!
    Full of sorrow life!
    No tomorrow life!

    PCO just sprays and flees
We're in hock to pay his fees

    Time to isolate your bed
They can't breed unless they're fed!

You'll stay up till this dump's free
Of the bed bugs, wait and see!

    Vacuum till your patience's thin
Bag stuff up don't let them in
Make them drink a mickey finn
We hate you and we will win

    (whistle) Get to work!
    (whistle) Strip them beds!
(whistle) I said get to work!

It's the ziploc life for us
It's the ziploc life for us
Bed bug orphans we'll find you
Kill your parents and you too!
    It's the ziploc life
    It's the ziploc life
    It's the ziploc life!

Coop: I know I said I was to do laundry, but I keep coming back to this computer. I'm obsessed. Did you make up ALL the lyrics? That is like amazing. This maybe should be our "bb national anthem"? OK off to the laundermart now. I think?!

bb infestation certainly does bring out the creative sides in some of us--hysterical? yes! Hysterically funny and sad but oh so true.

Well I keep alternating between humming "It's a Ziploc Life" and "Don't have to Live Like a Refugee." But of course I do... for a little while longer.

So we're sanding and sealing the bedroom floor next week, and then we MUST buy a mattress, it's been a month on the aerobed and we are going insane. Buying and getting a bedframe delivered may take weeks, so I guess we'll be putting that mattress ON THE FLOOR for a while! At least then I will know if they are still here since I will easily be bit (though of course it is also mosquito season so it may be hard to tell the diff).

Oh, yes, of course I will cover it first!! I'm thinking of getting memory foam, which (they say) is resistant anyway, but I will buy a mite-proof cover and tape the zipper for sure!

    This is outstanding.

There's meter, and rhyme, and insight. It flows exactly like the song. And it pretty much covers all the aspects of life with bedbugs!

    It's a ziploc life.

Coop, seriously. Thank you. This is great.

You should sing it while wearing a Jim Henson, puppet-style, bed bug suit!

That was great!!! I actually had a question about ziplocs. When you put your clean clothes in a sealed zip loc.....where do you then put the clean bag??? (I would love it if I could just levitate it, lol) Like right now my clean ziplocs are in my bedrooms, standing up & sealed on the carpeted floor. As long as it is sealed I am not cross contaminating with bed bugs, right???

The ziplocks are used for clothing that you will be wearing during the treatments. I would store them and change in a room that is not near a sleeping area. (kitchen, laundry room, garage...)

My kitchen is kinda small....my laundry room may actually have bb in there cause I have a whole bunch of rubbermaid tubs, like 8....unsealed (before worrying about having bb's) stacked against the wall that has all our off season clothes in them. I am not doing anything with them until the K-9 comes. But they very well could be infested. My bathrooms are tiny, and my other rooms are 3 bedrooms....a living room with couch...which I have felt stuff crawling on me while sitting on (of course I feel stuff in EVERY room) and a family room with a couch and stuffed chair. So I really am at a loss as to where to put them. I do have a basement....right off the laundry room, but I feel if I try to tell my husband & daughter that everytime they need to get dressed or grab a towel for a shower.....there is going to be MAJOR complaining, whining & arguing....and me hysterical!
