Please compare with pictures of bed bugs so you can easily see that this is not a bed bug, not an insect, but a land crustacean, an isopod, called a sowbug.

Thanks for the ID. Initially I panicked due to the color and posted. Left my contact lenses in a hotel room 1000 miles away this past weekend. Once I put my cheaters on I could definitely see the difference. Didn't mean to waste anyone's time. Had a bad scare a couple months ago.

What sort of insects are mistaken for bedbugs besides bat bugs? For future reference

More than you realize. Yes, related cimicid bugs, cockroaches, flies, isopods, beetles, etc.

As well as boogers, sesame seeds, corn flakes and if I'm remembering correctly even a seed that had been run through the poster's digestive track.

Thanks Lou, I did a search and think I saw at least one person mistake a sowbug for a bedbug but the post was super old. You're right, with untrammeled eyesight they are much different than bedbugs. I found a huge spider in my climb-up today but I don't mind them, pretty harmless here in Minnesota.

Yes Big Dummy, I too have mistaken at least half of what you mentioned as bed bugs when I was in panic mode. Even brown pocket fuzz
