I have a bed base that I think is a box spring. It has a cover on the underside that's stapled in place. To do a proper inspection, I need to remove it.

Do I need to remove it on all four sides? Once I've removed it, do I put it back again, or just leave it off completely? I don't have a staple gun, so I guess I'd need to re-use the same staples and a tack hammer.

Would the same apply to the couch frame?

    Dear mort,

    Good question !

We used to remove the staple fasteners one by one however, we soon learned that it was much more cost effective if we simply cut them off using a utility or other such knife. We remove them completely on all four sides in order to inspect and treat the frame work within.

And no, we don't put them back.

Hope this helps ! paul b.

    Thanks.

Since I'm not under the same time constraints as a professional, I might do it the more long-winded way and remove the staples.
