ID of bug cast please [a: beetle larva skin]

    Hi there,

    Like many on this website, I've got a lot of anxiety about the dreaded bed bugs. I've come to visit my brother and he mentioned that last week he woke up with some itchy spots on his leg. His girlfriend is okay and this is the first time it's happened. Even so, I asked if we could go through his bedding and we found these two casts (1 whole, 1 partial) on the box spring.

    I don't think they look exactly like bed bugs, maybe carpet beetle larvae? However, I was hoping the knowledgeable folk on this forum could help confirm this for me! I am terrified of bringing bedbugs back home with me in my suitcase.

    Hi,

    100% not bed bug as you can see from the example below:

    As you can see the "split" is behind the head and runs across the exoskeleton. In your image the split runs head to tail which would be indicate of a beetle larval skin, see below:

    As it could be the cause of the skin reactions I would suggest addressing them and seeing it is resolves you problem. My notes on dealing with light to medium cases of CB's are here:
