It's been 3 years and I am worried we might have another infestation. Recently we woke up with this blood again on the sheet. My husband had hurt his toe, but the placement of the stain on the top sheet didn't seem to match up. When I wiped it with saliva it started to diminish. When washed that afternoon in hot water, the stain disappeared. We have our bed isolated with glue traps (reading the site, I realize now that they aren't the most effective in protection against bedbugs). Anyways, we were changing them out yesterday and found this. It kind of looks like a nymph or cast of one. I tried to get the best picture. Since it was removed from the edge of a glue trap, I am sure it is not fully intact. Also, two nights ago I was sitting on the couch and broke out in this rash on my shoulders and chest. They were 9 small blister like bites that burned and were itchy. The bumps are starting to go down today. Not sure if it's something that happened being outside with my kids or if it was a delayed reaction to bites. I'm starting to freak out. Not sure if these are just coincidences or early signs of an infestation. I am very careful. I don't bring anything into the house without washing. We still bag our pajamas and our beds are still isolated. Expert help please! I really appreciate this site everything it has to offer. It's been very helpful!

Note you can embed BBCode here but not HTML. Just pasting in a URL will make a working link.

No one can ID bed bugs from a skin reaction.

I can't see the bug well enough to ID but will leave that for others. It looks like it has a red head, is that correct?

I started and run the site but am "not an expert."

Thanks for the quick response. It's hard to determine if the head is red. It even if the head is till attached. What are your thoughts about the blood stain? Could it be fecal? Others one the bug?

    Hi,

The stain is not confirming of bedbugs.

The cast skin does not appear correct although a closer picture may be helpful. I would suggest you cross reference with the images below:

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/bedbugsuk/9473252140/in/set-72157634967512613/

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/bedbugsuk/7401197234/in/set-72157634967512613/

I suspect if you can see the detail you may find out its carpet beetle as per the link below:

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/bedbugsuk/14652005944/

    Hope that helps.

Thank you David! Just to clarify, the stain is not bedbug related? Is it the wrong color? Also, would the stains wash out or leave a remnant? I tried to take a better picture. Please let me know what you think. I would so appreciate some peace of mind! Thank you!!!

    Hi,

The images are still not clear enough to ID from but if you follow the links I took the time to post you will be able to compare what you have with close images. It's often easier to do things that way around if you can't take a closer picture.

The stain does not confirm bedbugs because of its colour. There is a post called "blood spots in sheets primer" that explains more detail.

From what I can see the skin is not bedbug related though.

Hi David, thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate it. I looked at the links you sent, but it's hard to know what to look for. What are your thoughts on the last image I sent? That was something new I just found, in addition to the earlier pictures. That's looks more like a bedbug to me. What are your thoughts? Thank you!

    Hi,

    The first link is this:

    https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/bedbugsuk/9473252140/

It's a huge close up of a cast skin showing all the detail that is present and reinforcing the fact that they remain consistent in shape.

Does what you have in the bag look like that?

Does it have legs like that?

An opening in the middle of it's back like that?

If that's not clear please take a few minutes to explain exactly what's to be confused because I can't see how it's hard. I don't mean that to be funny I am serious I NEED to understand why that is not clear.

I apologize for asking so many questions. I was just looking to the experts, these don't seem to be complete bugs or casts. I don't see legs, so I thought there might be some guidance based on the body.

    Hi,

No the head section is the most intact of all. It's certainly the most "structurally sound" and as such if it's absent from what you have in front of you then you can be more confident that's it's not bedbugs.

It's OK to ask questions but if you dont understand or it's not clear ask for clarification rather than questioning the information. It's only that way can steering information be added to help others.

Hope that makes sense and I will again reinforce my doubt that this is bedbugs based on what I can see in the image.

Thanks again for your time and clarification, David. I really do appreciate it. From what I can tell the top images do look more like carpet beetles. The last image I am stuck on figuring our what it could be. I cross referenced it with the links you shared. They are helpful! But, I can't tell if the last picture is a head, a body or neither. If anyone has any guidance, feel free to share. Thank you again for your help!

Still worrying. Could the last picture be a bedbug head or part of their body? I've compared it to pictures, the color seems to match, but it's missing parts so I can't tell what it could be. Thank you in advance for your help:)

    Hi,

Yes and some minds "get going" more than others. However recognizing that it does "get going" is the first step to keep it in check when it does.

Sadly stopping it can be a lot harder than starting it off which is why sensible precautions and early detection are so essential, it kind if derails that train before it gets out of te depot.

It might be easier to upload your pictures to flickr.com rather than what your'e using. I can't see them on that site at all. It's difficult to see what the creature is.
