Hi everyone, we have a bit of a problem on our hands. We are currently away on holidays, however in the rental home we woke up with red bite marks all over us. After some thinking we thought that they may be from bed bugs so went hunting and found a couple of bugs. The room also has a musty smell to it coming from the bed. I have added some links to pictures below of our bites and one of the bugs we found.

We decided that we didnt feel like getting eaten alive for another 4 nights so we contacted the real estate and also booked into a motel. The real estate sent around a pest control person who apparently said there is no signs of bed bugs. But we feel the smell, our bites, and the fact that we found bugs crawling around are plenty of evidence.

We would really appreciate it if some people with a bit more experience would be able to let us know from the pics if they think it's bed bugs.

Its hard to say. Although the bites look to be bed bug related the insect itself doesn't really look like a bed bug. Sorry to hear about your problem and i wish i could be of more help.

    .....I am NOT an expert.....

Any advice i give here is based solely on my own personal experiences in dealing with bedbugs & other household vermin.

Thanks for your response. I know it's hard to see, this was only a little guy and i took it with my phone. Looking at the pics I've seen on the net, i thought the shape and colour was very similar.

    Hi,

    100% not bedbug related.

As the sample appears to have 8 legs I would suspect its a spider.
