I am worried I have bed bugs for the usual reasons. During my search for evidence I found three of these near my bed. Two were dead, one was alive. They are very small, about the size of a grain of rice (or even smaller), have six legs, and are covered in small hairs.

I think you are right. I looked at pictures of carpet beetles online and it's a match. Thank you. Can they cause skin irritation/bite?

The larva stage can result in bite like symptoms. I think there is some really helpful information in the FAQs or search carpet beetle. Good luck.

I've found some black carpet beetles and need to focus on controlling them.
