This morning I took transit to work; when I sat at my desk and started drinking my tea, I saw a little bed bug critter on my wrist. I know it was a bed bug because I used to work at a hotel... and you know.
When I saw the bed bug I freaked out, and squished it. I went to the bathroom and took off all of my clothes and my shoes. Shook them out and shook out my hair. I've also shaken my jacket and checked my toque and gloves.

Is it possible that there was only one bed bug on me from the train or are there usually more?
Does this mean that I have bed bugs at home or could I have just picked them up on the train?
Is there anything I can do to ensure they don't come home with me?

I appreciate any help I can get!

Yes, it's very possible to pick up a lone, hungry bedbug. Are you in the USA? Bedbugs do like to aggregate with one another, however. In this country they are in the buses in Detroit and have also been found on the metra in Philadelphia.

It's possible they're at work, also.

I started and run the site but am "not an expert."
