    Hello everyone,
In the past week I have gotten a few bites. I spotted what was unmistakably a bed bug on the wall next to my bed on Saturday. Today, I spotted another one on the bed. I killed them both with alcohol. They were not fully grown but were definitely brown.

Anyway, upon further inspection I saw two or three things on my mattress pad that looked like eggs. Very scattered, not together. I thoroughly inspected the mattress, between the mattress and box spring, edges, underneath the bed, everywhere, and found NOTHING.

on my sofa, I found a few things that looked like droppings or eggs, but I am not sure. Anyway, I removed everything from the bed and sofa, sprayed the sofa frame and mattress with 90% alcohol and put everything in the dryer, then a plastic bag for 30 mins.

Everything seemed fine until today, when I found the second one on my bed. I only have 3-4 bites and I'm just hoping I can treat this on my own through vacuuming and spraying alcohol. What does everyone recommend? I spoke to a pest control specialist and he said I might be able to kick this on my own. But I don't want to be naive about this.

Is there a pest control person in Brooklyn that people recommend? THANKS.

Please post pics for a positive ID, then we can work out the best plan.

Unfortunately I don't have a pic yet (I'm at work, but I saved a dead one in a glass and ID later). But it is unmistakably a bed bug, and it's about 0.25 inches long, mostly round but slightly elongated body and that tell-tale brown with very dark brown (blood) visible in the body.

Ok, just best to post a pic and move from there. You sound fairly confident, but many times it can end up being something different.

Let's not get hung up on pictures all the time. If someone is confident they have bedbugs, they need action advice.

I strongly recommend Cimexa. It's non-toxic silica dust, good for 10 years if left. It kills witin 12 hours of contact. Do not inhale, avoid skin contact. Buy an applicator, to apply thinly (a turkey baster also works).

Sorry-- I know you're trying to help, but have you looked at the ID requests here? Most people who are sure they have a bed bug are wrong. A visual ID really is the best thing. In suggesting one, we're trying to help people avoid wasting time and energy in the wrong direction. We've seen people go down that road too many times.

The good news is that if bed bugs are hard to find, fecal stains shouldn't be. They can be posted for ID also.

If there are no fecal stains, it might be a related species (bat bugs) which most people here who have seen bed bugs would probably misdiagnose.

Or it could be something else entirely.

I started and run the site but am "not an expert."
