I was going through the bag that I carry to work with me, and found an envelope that had been buried at the bottom for several months. I'm a little concerned about several black spots that are on it. Note, when I first found the envelope there were also some larger black spots that came off easily, and I'm fairly certain that these were caused by the plastic bottom of my bag degrading and rubbing off. But I'm not sure if the remaining spots were definitely caused by the same thing, or if they could just be mold (I know moisture gets inside my bag sometimes if it's raining).

Some of these black spots that remain still rub off pretty easily. Others don't, but they also don't smear at all.

    Thank you for your thoughts.

Thanks for weighing in. I'm glad you don't think so. I've been a little concerned because I found a few pictures of fecal stains on books that looked similar.
