Just curious if you actually know how you ended up with bedbugs?

Is it something you recallike a vacation or seeing a movie in a theatre?

If everyone knew it would be much easier to deal with. If you had bees in your house you'd know immediately. One of the problems with bed bugs is they don't always present themselves right away so tracking down the source can be much harder, making them harder to avoid.

I would say almost half the people that get them have no idea where they got them from.

What BigDummy said. The missus' and I came up with four possibilities, it could have been one or more of those. Or none of them.

It took at least 2 months, maybe 3 before we knew we had them.

I've been doing bedbug work for five years and brought them home recently for the first time. You can find it under 'My bedbug scare.'

We do not know where they came from. We have 3 or 4 possibilities, but we don't know for sure.

Could have been my overnight stay at a permaculture course located at a farm that employs backpackers; a trip to Melbourne, where I stayed with two different family members including in the room of an adult daughter who had recently been OS and, I later learned, was not particular about the standard of accommodation; used the airport bus; my daughter stayed in a dodgy Sydney hotel when seeing Katy Perry; daughter spent several days in hospital; parents in law sent us Xmas gifts from Thailand; daughter got a few postal items from USA.
It could have been any of these. I hate not knowing but will probs never know.

I'm 99% sure mine came from a package I received from an online auction site seller.

Unless you see bed bugs at/in a potential source, you may well be wrong.

    Jim said,

I would say almost half the people that get them have no idea where they got them from.

And a good percentage of the other half are just guessing.

I started and run the site but am "not an expert."

Our family got bed bugs from a brand new box spring from a store we thought we could trust. There was no other possibility...

    We have tons of possibilities.

A party, movies, graduation, company, kid's sleepovers, school and 2 different doctor offices we spent 4 hours at each time.

I brought my personal bed bugs first stage instars home from my office in a pill case. I cared for them photographed them and kept them fed during a project. Then that was it.

Actually as we all know bed bugs enter either as captives which is on an item by hitchhiking or as volunteers by migrating in from an adjacent unit or hallway. It is the steps we can take to reduce each method of bed bug introduction that can afford us a degree of safety.

Mine came from staying in a barracks. The infection was localized to a duffle bag that I didn't empty out as soon as I came home. The blanket that I took from the top of the duffle and used on my bed was the transfer vector.
