I was going to buy one until I realized the fabric must be treated with flame retardant chemicals. I was thinking that especially when the fabric is heated it must exacerbate releasing the chemicals into the air. Does anyone here have chemical sensitivities and use a packtite? What's your experience? Thanks!

I did notice it has a chemical smell when it is running. Not sure how it would affect you however.

i haven't had any bad reactions to my PT...The only bad reaction i have is when i imagine that one day the motor may stop...then all of a sudden...it's really strange...i start sweating and trembling and water starts welling up in my eyes.

So you have to treat clothing with flame-retardant spray before putting it in the packtite? How do you guys handle new clothing - just a clothing steamer?

I haven't treated anything with chemicals before putting in my packtite. I am not sure why do you need to treat the fabric?

WestSide22 - I think Nancy is talking about the actual Packtite itself...that the heavy material comes already treated to withstand the heat.

DeedleBeetle - You crack me up. I also have had that reaction
