    Dear Folks,

There are a number of bed bug sufferers who are in need of a competent attorney.

Please advise if you can recommend an attorney in the following states:

NY, NJ, VA, NC, SC, CT & MA.

Your referral may help these people with their current bed bug situation.

    Hope this helps !

    Paul B.

Hi, I have no contacts in this area...assume its an hourly rate attorney vs fee contingent on winning the case ?

I've been thinking about doing a search on housing courts but no time during day. I'm not a lawyer just a researcher.

Wow, it's sad that there are no referrals suggested here yet.

The folks we're looking to help are in great need of such assistance.

Sorry I can't provide a referral, but a Google search for "bed bug attorneys" keep bringing this person up over and over. But he's in Maryland: http://blogs.findlaw.com/strategist/2010/12/bed-bug-lawyer-attorney-finds-unique-practice-niche.html.

The closest I could come up with in the areas you mentioned was this law firm: http://www.1800lawline.com/blog/?tag=bed-bug-lawyer

Agree with you and wish I could be more helpful

I wonder if you could google "termite attorneys" or "property damage attorneys" and see if anything comes up and go at it a different way?

I can't imagine there are many attorneys specializing in bed bug litigation yet???? (That's sort of a question.)

I'm assuming you are not looking for just names of general litigators in those areas. I could probably get you some names . . . but can't imagine that's what you are looking for?

Looking at past articles about bed bug cases can be helpful as many of them mention the attorneys involved.

In NY I am sure you are already aware of Alan Schnurman who claims to have handled "hundreds of bed bug cases" (per the article linked from here).

Some are gathered here, and others are linked from the "bed bug lawsuits" category of the blog.

I started and run the site but am "not an expert."

There's one in NY who was showing up in Google ads on the forum a while back. Don't recall name, certainly not if he's any good.

I was contacted by an Atlanta lawyer (I'm in Chicago) to give a deposition for a bed bug case he was handling. I wrote a bad review (bed bugs) on Tripadvisor for the same motel his client was suing. I gave him the deposition and he said he'd let me know how the case resolved, but I never heard back from him. I should email him and see if it's resolved or still in litigation. Don't know if this qualifies as "competent bed bug attorney" but I thought it was pretty thorough and innovative of him to track me down online to verify his client's claim. So if anyone around Atlanta needs an attorney, try Neil Flit.

A couple of thoughts. I'm sure you are already networking with people met through expert testimony.

    1. Critterbug's suggestion and any "media" attorneys may be able to refer to someone outside their area (who is not direct competition).
    2. What about having them contact tenants rights groups in those states? They may be aware of cases that have been settled or that are "coming into play". For example, Homeline (Midwest, not areas mentioned) has a form letter on its website for if your landlord invoices you for bedbug treatment. Its attorneys also teach continuing ed classes for attorneys in this state. I would think that tenant rights groups in larger cities in the areas you are interested in could lead you to some lawyers (not listed in the media) who have won or settled cases. You may be able to find a bedbugger with research skills who could help you with this. I can't during the day, which is probably what you need. When do your kids have spring break? I know you are trying to help others and they may need to do the research.

Just thoughts..not saying they are good ones...

Although it's related to tenant issues (email above), those lawyers typically have real estate legal contacts. Good luck.
