In last days, I took a lot of pictures of cast skins (bedbugs and other common house insects).
Here is a comparizon between them... hope it may help someone...

Wow..Very informative stuff there EffeCi. Thank you for the time on that. I wish I had this handly long ago when we needed it.

I feel this is really useful for those looking for signs of bed bugs. Maybe you and NoBugs could find a way to add these pics to the Faq's?? Just an idea...It would be a shame to have this get drowned in the forums with time.

No, KQ didn't see that one! Never thought I would say this.."Nice Skin Shot!" Lol!!

I guess the cast skins even being paper thin aren't all that fragile.?

Are those pics of first stage bb? I'd like to see pics as I'm close to the end of this (I keep telling myself) and want to be able to clearly identify any stage (all 5) well I know what 4 and 5 look like. Got my microscope, so pics? Please.

    : )

Cast skins from the first BB moult are very tiny and cream white. They're really hard to find or even to see.
In the afternoon (if I'll find the time) I'll pick up one-two from my little colony and take pictures of them...

Very cool NoBugs! I think seeing the comparison will help so many. If they cannot tell the difference still, I believe it will give that push to go and get it professionally looked at to confirm what type of skin it is.

Er... I "mounted" the images only for video resolution so I have to rebuilt it to have a higher resolution one...

In the meanwhile, as I promised, I took a picture of 1st and 2nd instars cast skins compared with a 4th instar one.

    Effeci,
What shape and texture are they? Are long and smooth or have texture? When you say cream white, iz that like opaque or are they somewhat translucent?

    Thanks!

I just uploaded an image of many shed skins. Reminds me of a bowl of cereal flakes.

    Ugh Lou
I always hated cereal - you don't encourage me to change my mind. Seriously though in my house I have a cast, a dead bug and a few eggs kept to show my friends exactly what to look for if they suspect bugs.

Great pictures! My PCO told me I found a cast skin, but I never found anything with legs or head still attached. Mine looked more like a popcorn kernal shell, just kind of round.
