September of last year, we had a bc scare. I contacted a pest control company and sent photos in,they identified them as bb. They sent me a list of everything we had to do.. which is a lot!! My daughter was getting multiple "bites " 2 or 3 times a week. We prep our house and throw out so many things.. even our box, springs, couches.. everything .We keep our mattresses as they are going in a cover. The exterminator comes in , looks at our samples. We had combed through every mattress and placed the bugs bags. He asked my husband if these were the samples we had submitted to the person taking the call and they were ..So he steps out of the house and we hear him on the phone.quote " you sent me here for carpet beetles!!?? Who told her they were bb ? They go back and forth a little bit more and he comes back in.. He apologized to me..and said these are carpet beetles and the casings are carpet beetles..he then check everything in the house and brought us back to the mattresses which are clean and clear of anything..no fecal stains .. nothing. He treats for carpet beetles and leaves.. my daughter still gets bites 2 weeks later and he treats again.. this happens 2 more times and the last treatment was in November. We had another service come out in November.. and they found nothing.. All is quite until 2 weeks ago and my daughter got about 8 bites in a line right up her arm..( apparently she is allergic to carpet beetles?) but the only thing that I am finding and I just started seeing them( I go over her bed with a high powers magnifying glass before she goes to bed and when she gets up).. are these brown looking insects. They are about 1/16th of an inch..very tiny and I am finding them on the bed. I don't think they have wings they crawl away . I sent in one picture earlier but could never get a better picture.. I'm not even sure if the 2 are related.. any help is greatly appreciated ..

Bed bug samples never really found? Prep included throwing so many things away? The box spring, like mattress, could have been encased. An appropriate insecticide could have been used prior to encasement. Were any monitors used? Certain carpet beetle larval bodies and shed skins (and also dusts from these insects' broken down bodies) cause dermatitis due to the specialized, defensive setae (spear-headed hairs). Vacuum cleaner collections by use of a flexible tube and nylon stocking inside tip to capture any samples. Lint roller tape collections from surfaces. You might have a skin reaction to molds. The insect pictured is what's called a plaster beetle (a latridiid beetle). They are associated with molds and moisture.

Thank you !! We just bought this home last January and had a mold problem earlier this year.when our heating and air went out.We had dehumidifiers now.We don't see any mold at this time but We're having trouble keeping the moisture level at a normal level. It can get up to 70%. We live in Alabama by a lake. I guess we'll have to call in a specialist to check. The pest control company ID'd the samples by pictures only, and prep was requested before they would come out. I asked them about monitors but he said we didn't need them with carpet beetles ( after he got here)The couch and box springs were my bad call. When they said we had bed bugs at first, I was in panick mode . We put glue strips on the legs of our bed and have found two fleas and a beetle. We do have another company coming out on Tuesday.

We did find 2.. we just had another service come out. Thankfully you had already id'd the other bc they had no clue what they were. I just had a basic treatment done and set up for monthly. They didn't find anything else. We've got the humidity down to 40% and we are having a new unit put in. These are the pictures of the cleanse and beetle.

Flea, yes. Beetle, yes. Not carpet beetle. Do you know the host of the flea?

We live on a small farm. We have an Australian shepherd and chickens right now. There is no telling what runs around our house at night. No animals stay in the house. We've only seen the 2 and my daughter has gotten bit once this year. We have mice in the barn but I haven't see any evidence of having them in the house .So I'm really not sure.

Makes sense to have those fleas now.
