    Hello all,
I was looking for some help identifying this bug. I was laying on the couch next to my partner who was holding our cat. My partner noticed a small bug crawling on their shirt (near the cat) and immediately assumed it was a bed bug. I captured it in a bag and took some photos.

I defer to the experts. It appears to have some colorful dots which I thought might indicate a carpet beetle? We have only seen this one and sincerely hope there are no more. If you think it is bed bugs and/or carpet beetles, would you recommend exterminating or watching for more? Thanks for your help and let me know what you think!

It's hard to see. Can you get a more close up picture of it?

I am not sure this is much improvement but here goes.

    Zoomed in:

The photos from last night I took while it was alive in a bag. I then smooshed it and noticed an immediate change in color. It appears darker and the belly is no longer white.

Blurry, but an updated photo from today:

Thanks for any help folks can provide!

It's definitely not a bedbug, and likely a carpet beetle. Confirm with expert for what kind of beetle it is.

Not sure which dermestid beetle it is. Definitely not a bed bug.
