    Any ID help very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. This forum is a huge help.

    Found alive, crawling up the page of a book while reading (I was reading, not the bug). Book had been on nightstand during the previous night.

    Thank you, loubugs! Looking at your image, yes, it does appear to be an anthocorid, an insect I was totally unaware of despite endless "bed bug lookalikes" searches over the years! But we have a big garden and lots of beneficial and harmful bugs, so it's very possible we have pirate bugs and they could have travelled inside with me after harvesting veggies.
