    Hello all,

to provide a bit of background my boyfriend and I started getting bites about a month ago and as it is winter we realized pretty quickly that it could only be fleas or bed bugs. Based on the fact that we were only bitten at night on body parts which were not covered we assumed it had to be bed bugs, but we hadnt seen a single bug yet. We called a specialist who examined our bedroom and confirmed that we have a very light infestation and that he would treat the two bedrooms even though there were no signs of bed bugs in the second. Since then we have had two chemical treatments because we keep getting bitten. The specialists has turned everything upside down but has only found one dead unfed nymph after the first treatment. He said it is highly unusual to not find any adults and that he thinks all of the bugs are already dead (the temperatures are below freezing point at night here and we had placed all of our clothes and mattress etc outside on our terrace for about a week before the first treatment and had slept in the second bed room).
Meanwhile the last treatment was last Thursday and yesterday night i found about 8 new bites - not sure how new they actually are, i seem to react to bites especially at night and after hot showers/baths.

No signs of bed bugs in any other room, i have also taped our entire bedroom (around the bed, around the walls and doors etc) with double-sided tape but havent cought any bug. Anybody else here with a similar experience and an idea where the bed bugs could hide?? The specialist is shocked that we are still bitten given that he has sprayed a lot and that he has actually not found any adults...

    Thanks a lot!

why not get mattress encasements as well as climb up interceptors? You might be able to trap a BB in one of the interceptors if they are coming from elsewhere.

Double-sided tape sometimes really doesn't work, but interceptors do. Buy some online. You could try folded cloth that you would have to unfold to see if anyone is there. You can use a washcloth or cloth about that size and fold it twice into a smaller square. You can use fan-folded paper (about 1/2 inch folds), staple one end and clip the other or use clip both ends. You can unclip one end and see if anyone is hiding in the folds by opening the fan. You can work over the sink or over a tray or box. Leave these monitors on floor near walls, near bed, sofa legs.

    Hi all,

i thought i should post a quick update: Friday morning i used my day off and dismantled the entire bed and there they were - found 3 living adults and some casts (no eggs though) behind the metal locks screwed to the bed frame! I knew they were thin but not even a piece of paper would have fitted in between the locks! After finally knowing what the casts looked like i went through the entire room with a torch to look if they are hiding anywhere else but could not find anything. The bed is now on the terrace to get a frost shock treatment for a couple weeks to make sure that any egg I might have missed does not survive.
We have slept on the floor with a mattress for the past two nights now (Were away over the weekend) and this morning i woke up and thought i have a bite on my foot, however i am not sure if it is just a flare up or a new bite - it stopped itching after i took a shower which is usually not the case with new bites.

Really hope that this was it and that all of them were somewhere in the bed frame - would like to avoid another treatment as my PCO then wants us to remove all of the skirting boards which will be extremely difficult. The apartment is only 3 years old so everything is very firmly attached...
