About 3 weeks ago my partner and I started getting little red itchy dots on arms and legs. We had a good search under the bed and found some carpet beetles (adults, larvae, droppings). But there are also stains on our sheets that could resemble bed bug feces. Any ID would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,

It could resemble but it’s not.

If you look at the fine level of detail you can see its different.

I personally would go with the carpet beetle ID and work to resolve that rather that chasing invisible bedbugs.

    Hope that helps.

Fecal deposits tend to be very close to a bed bug's refuge. Common places that I look on any inspection would be the plastic corner covers on the box spring, along the base of the box spring where it meets the frame, and under any of the tags.
While fecal deposits can be found on the sheets that is not the norm.
