Hi, I found this bug smashed in a library book. I'm hoping to confirm it's not a bed bug. An ID from a specialist or a fanatic would be tremendous, thanks

    It's not a bed bug

Current fighter of bed bugs, survivor of one previous bout of bed bugs, and ironically enough I'm the IPM manager where I work.

You must have looked at bed bug pictures. And this looks nothing like a bed bug. Have faith in your judgement. It is a staphylinid rove beetle.
