I am living in Switzerland and have been fighting repeated bed bug infestations for the past 3 years. I would like to buy a packtite as well as other supplies. I have found a few things over the internet as far as traps and encasements go but nothing like what you can buy in the United States and many american companies do not seem to sell overseas. Does anyone know of a good source of anti bb supplies in Europe ? Many thanks in advance.

    Hi Pidju,

Due to electrical safety testing requirements and regulation of the pest industry in the EU we will not get some of the products here for a while yet.

At present the only products which are really available are:

    Passive monitors
    BB Alert active
    Bedbug barrier
    Bedbug moat
    Climb-ups
    Bug dome

If you search about you can find suppliers for those.

However that being said in your scenario of multiple repeat infestations it is actually more important to ask why you are getting them back on a regular basis. If you can identify the likely source you can avoid it and thus avoid having an infestation at home.

I would strongly suggest you look at the follow potential issues:

    • Sources such as adjoining neighbours
    • Sources such as your daily commute
    • Sources such as your work location
    • Sources such as places you visit on a regular basis
    • Sources such as people who visit your home on a regular basis

This approach is to avoid the infestation in the first place. If this is not feasible then I would suggest you look at a different approach of early detection and treatment by passive monitor replacement (see http://www.bed-bugs.co.uk/treatmentbypassivereplacement.html) which can help you tackle infestations before they establish and where they are less impacting on your life.

    I hope that helps.

In accordance with the AUP and FTC I openly disclose that I have a vested interest in the passive monitoring technology as the inventor and patent holder.

If you have found this information helpful please consider leaving feedback on social media via google+ or FaceBook or by like/loving the images.

In accordance with the AUP and FTC (legal requirements) I openly disclose my vested interest in Passive Monitors as the inventor and patent holder. Since 2009 they have become an integral part in how we resolve bed bug infestations. I also have a professional relationship with PackTite in that they distribute my product under their own branding. I do not however receive any financial remuneration for any comments I make about products.

Thank you David, for this very detailed answer and I hasten to say that I have done everything you suggest as far as it is possible.
I have been looking into the possible sources of the infestation. All possibilities can be excluded except: neighbours (it is impossible to check other appartements in the building, as the rental agency refuses), and : my husband's best friend's appartment, (I have problems getting my husband to acknowledge the situation). As it is incredibly difficult to find accomodation where I live, I have not pursued the subject aggressively with the rental agency, and instead moved quickly to quell every new infestation, while maintaining quarantine all year round. Now I need proof that the newest infestation was bed bugs (I recognize my bites from the first confirmed infestation, and all the circumstances in which they occur point to bbs- but this is not enough for other people) to be able to go forward. The problem is that the bbs have been very very difficult to find in my apartment even when they were very numerous and now it is quite a small infestation. Therefore efficient traps and a safer cleaning device than my oven are necessary in the immediate future.
I will have a look at your site with great interest.
    Thanks again.

    Hi,

To assist you in discussing the issue with neighbours there is the document linked below:

    http://www.bedbugbeware.com/neighbour3fold.html

It is essential that you stop moving and address the issue, moving simply leaves infected locations behind you like a wave.

There are an increasing number of teams in the EU specialising in bedbugs, depending upon your location help could be easier to access than you think. If you want to PM me some details I will speak to a few people and see if there is anyone close to you.

    David

Back on the forum, I just saw this message. Sorry for the long ago misunderstanding - I never moved from one place to another, I moved in the sense I acted to treat the infestation where I was. Thanks for the guidelines about the neighbours.
