I have been getting bites for the last couple of months. About once a week I'll get 15-20 bites all in one area and then nothing for a while...then it will come back. At one point indisnt get any bites for several weeks, after I started putting on bug spray every time I went out. I thought the problem was gone and that it wasn't bedbugs after all but I started getting the bites again last week and finally I saw a bedbug crawling on me while I was reading in bed the other night. It's weird, since I could never find any other evidence...

Anyway, here's where I want advice. We're moving away (long distance) at the end of the month. It goes without saying that the bed will be disposed of. Would it be irresponsible to sell our sofas? How likely is it that our other furniture is infested?

We will be letting the landlords know about the issue. Is it better to exterminate while we're still here?

Finally, as we pack up, would anyone be able to recommend a safe method of doing so to ensure we don't carry the pests to our next place? Any order of doing things that seems prudent?

    Thanks in advance.

Look into having your possessions fumigated with Vikane gas after you have loaded everything in a rental moving truck... Make sure everything is packed loosely and don't utilize any airtight bags or containers.

Contact Dow to obtain a list of fumigation specialists in your area.

Notify your landlord ensure that the unit is treated.

The couch could end up becoming a trojan horse for bed bugs.

Thanks for the info. Does my situation seem to add up? Periodic occurrences of many bites in one area and then several days to several weeks before the next occurrence? I've only seen that one bug and I've searched high and low for evidence and wait awake in bed for hours waiting for another to emerge.
