We are six today.

Bedbugger.com was started on this day in 2006.

First it was a bed bug blog with FAQs.  In March of 2007, the forums were added.

And since then, the site has grown and grown.

According to SiteMeter, we’ll get our 14 millionth unique site visitor sometime this morning.   Google Analytics is a bit more conservative, saying we’ve had 12.6 million visits but an astonishing 33.7 million page views.

In any case, it never would have happened without you, so thank you!

The blog end of the site has been a bit quiet lately, much more quiet than I’d like, but I have a few ideas up my sleeve, and I hope you will soon enjoy them and find them useful.

We hope bed bugs aren’t still a problem six years from now, but if they are, we aim to be here, helping keep you informed and supported.

My thanks go out to everyone who uses the site, and everyone who has contributed, experts and consumers, one and all.

Oh, and I hope you’ll leave a comment below and say “hi.”

Thanks for being a Bedbugger!

Congrats on your birthday! Although I wish I had not had reason to visit your site I thank you for all that you have done to educate on bedbugs. This is a great site.

Happy birthday, Bedbugger!

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again – my bed bug problem was so complex & enduring that it seriously affected my health.

I’m not at all sure I’d still be here were it not for this site, so thanks for being here & thanks for standing against the tide of bed bug misinformation.

Dear Nobugs: you helped me so much six years ago, and unfortunately you are helping me now again (despite my best efforts, the bugs are back, go figure). Happy birthday to the most reliable guy on the Internet, you always remain fair and unruffled, keeping things civilized, and clearly separating fact from fiction.

Happy Birthday Bedbugger.com!

Undeniably, the most important bed bug website period. The number of people who gain solid, useful information and help from this site daily is staggering and has been going on for six years now. Congrats!

Happy Birthday!

Thank you Nobugs, and all of the other wonderful contributors to this web site and forum. I truly don’t know where I’d be (probably in a mental institution) without the wealth of information and kind words that I have found on this site. A million times over, thank you.

Happy Birthday! I wondered in about 18 months ago when I had a false alarm and seem to have developed a strange fascination with the topic … Congratulations nobugs on all of the hard work you’ve put in and all of the great success this site has had in helping people suffering through what can be a really stressful time.

One thing I learned today that has changed since you launched is the quality of mattress/box springs and pillow encasements… they are SO much nicer now, not all plastic and crinkly and easily ripped, like what you would put on the bed of a bed-wetter, which is what I got in 2007. I wish there were laws requiring all mattresses and box springs and pillows to have these new encasements! They are expensive (I just spent about $200 on these) but it does seem like the very first thing everyone should do? It’s so low-tech, so inexpensive, but perhaps the very first line of defense?

Happy Birthday Bedbugger! Although I’m a bird mite-r rather than a bedbugger, I have got so much help from this forum. Thank you to everyone who has shared their stories and their knowledge.

15 nobugsonme October 3, 2012 at 9:44 am

Aww, thanks everyone. I know I sound like a broken record, but thank you all for making the site what it is.

NotSoSnug! Who did our amazing site graphics! Do you know I look forward to winter just so I can see the bed bug in the cagoule?

Happy Birthday Bedbugger!!! And I tip my hat to you, Nobugs, thanks for being such a great host.

I enjoy this type of platform – reaching out and helping people across the country. I wish I had more time to help answer even more questions but I do what I can.

It has been an interesting six years… I started my research on the topic of bed bugs in early 2005 after a friend had a bad experience in Washington DC…. He called me the next day to ask if scent detection K9s could be trained to detect bed bugs.

I spoke with Bill Whitstine at Florida K9 Academy next day and the concept of the BedBugDog was born.

In 2005…a google search listed a little over 100 websites.

The top search result for the term “Bed Bugs” led me to a website that sold cute plush toys that were displayed on a bed with smiling children.

Accurate information was difficult to find and even respected organizations like the Mayo Clinic’s website promoted advice and information that was wildly inaccurate.

I attribute the amazing success of this website directly to the efforts of Nobugsonme… I have learned a lot from my participation here on Bedbugger… The blog and the forums have provided an educational experience that couldn’t be found anywhere else.

I watched with great interest the efforts of Nobug. Jessica and Renee Corea to incite a social and political movement to educatethe public and encourage legislation to respond to the growing problem in an effective manner… which resulted in the NYC task force… and ultimately the NYC bed bug portal on the web.

Member that participate on the forum provide support and information to help thousands of people every day… I appreciate being a member of this online community.

I would like to thank Nobugs and everyone that participates on this site for making Bedbugger the best support and information site on the internet… I believe that collectively we are making areal difference in the world.

So, I’m a day late, it being October 3. I don’t have good computer connections, if an excuse is needed. Otherwise:

Belated Happy Birthday

And, thanks much for all the information provided.

There are a lot of blogs out there, even a number of bed bug related ones but none compare to BEDBUGGER.COM Through the years it has been a source of good information and bad information but in a forum that allowed intelligent persons to usually differentiate. It has offered those suffering from bed bug issues a place to get informed and yes at times vent but that’s a part of dealing with them as well. The site has also been a good whats up resource for a number of professionals in regard to news trends and round about communication of ideas through the PM system. From a media sociological perspective it has been interesting to watch and be a part of. In short I think the bed bug community has been well served by the site so congratulations to NoBugs on the accomplishment, perseverance and the willingness to lose a degree of sanity not to mention sleep mediating those late night blog fights.

21 nobugsonme October 6, 2012 at 11:51 am

Thanks again, everyone, for the kind words. And thanks again for everything you’ve contributed to making the site what it is.

Happy Birthday. Been away and didn’t have a chance to offer my wishes earlier.
Nobugs– doing a great job. There wouldn’t be a birthday without you!
There are very few sites that host accurate information and good dialog and this one is definitely at the top of that list.

23 Robert October 11, 2012 at 3:53 am
