Vermont meter readers avoid building with bed bugs

in bed bug treatment, bed bugs

WCAX reports that the Central Vermont Public Service is saying its meter readers won’t read the meters of anyone in the Depot Square building until bed bugs are eliminated.

It’s had bedbugs for several months. Almost every unit is infested.

Now CVPS will not go in to read meters there at the request of the electric company’s employees. CVPS says it will instead rely on past power use to estimate consumption until the bedbugs are eradicated.

[Emphasis mine.]

You may recall Depot Square; back in August, 39 of the St. Johnsbury, VT building’s 47 units were found to have bed bugs.

It is distressing that residents will not have such a basic service carried out due to fear that meter readers will catch bed bugs when doing their jobs.

No word on treatment in this article.
