Registration, the forums, and the site

More basic information:

It occurs to me, since I keep recommending people register, that registering may be somewhat of a mystery. Sorry about that: here’s the deal: if you register for this site with a real email address, it will “remember” you and your nickname when you write a comment–you won’t need to fill in forms. You can also subscribe to comments for a post.

You can also comment without registering (and can use a fake email if you want, for commenting).

However, on the forums, you have to register to post. (Anyone can read!)

I want to emphasize that either way, your email will not display, and I won’t share it.

To register, go to the sidebar, and scroll down to “Meta” and click “Register”. If you’re already logged in, you won’t see it! Don’t register if you already have a login here or on the forums (Parakeets, Nomo, Bugzinthehood, Jess, Bugalina, this means you–check your email).

Once you register on the blog, you can log into the forums with the same username and password.

I think for now, we should try going to the forums for the long ongoing conversation “Tales of Woe” (and send newbi[t]es there). But comments on all other posts should stay here. In addition, you can start any conversations you want on the forum–just please pick an appropriate category. If you need new categories, you can leave a message under the category devoted to the site, or PM (private message) me.

Hope that helps!

Might eventually want to look into OpenID.
