would this be a good bed for bedbuggers?
(5 posts)-
happened to be looking at the CB2 site (little brother to crate and barrel) and i saw this bed.
since its white and made out of steel i thought it would be good for those inflicted with bedbugs. plus you dont use a box spring with it. and you wouldnt need side tables.
it does have wooden slats on the bottom i guess, but maybe those could be treated and easily inspectable?
anyway, its kinda cute too...in a very modern way: http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=400&f=4701

OK, now we know, you're spamming for C&B ;)
Looks promising, esp if the steel frame is sealed shut and the slats have no splits, or rough edge-grain, LOL.
I'm looking forward to more and more objects being designed for "BB-worthiness", though suspect that this is just a co-incidence.

no spamming i swear!
i jsut used to be really into antique furniture....well now with bed bugs id be too terrified to ever buy something other than new furniture again.
so i was looking online at what there is out there in terms of new furniture and i saw this.
its not my current style....i live in an old old house and have much more traditional looking furniture.
but it is amazing how much the threat of bed bugs will change my future behavior...in terms of travel and buying furniture and even avoiding library books.

I LOVE THAT BED. My husband and I were contemplating it last week - we were at the store, it was great! The one we saw was a dark grey though, they didn't have tbe white one there, Looked at the slats too, unfortunately, most beds come with slats, can't really get away from it, unless you replace it yourself with a big piece or 2 of wooden platforms (more work!).
We are waiting to buy that bed, actually.. and then caulk up all the seams! Looking towards no more bbs and living normally!
A BIG VOTE for that bed, on our end!

I like it, but have a few concerns.
I like that it has small legs -- ClimbUps would be a possibility, to test that it stays bed bug free.
I like the color and design.
Metal can become infested, but it is probably better than wood and definitely better than particleboard/veneer nightmares or captain's beds.
One concern: look how low it is. You could use a box I suppose, but those are not a great idea either. With just the mattress, the comforter trails the floor -- a no-no where bed bugs are concerned.
A riser might move it up 9" max, with a loss of attractiveness.
