Wilson Pro Aerosol
(15 posts)-
Anyone usethis stuff? Is it any good? I got given a few cansm of this stuff. Is wilson pro aerosol residual and if so how long does it last? Can it be spayed on pillows (actual pillow, Not the case)and sheets in the morning and sleep on them at night? Aslo should I spray the wilson around the barrier of carpet tape around the bed? I got mattress covers today (cheap ones) and taped up any small holes I may have cause :-S (Metal frame) and blasted the mattrexx with a steam blaster. If I do happen to see any within the barrier or on the bed can the bed/sheets be sprayed directly with this stuff?

If there is a residual, it'll get you as well as the bugs. I wouldn't sleep on it. Is your bed elevated with mineral oil in the wells of the lifts? did you use vasaline on the legs of the bed?

Yah, good question. I wonder if it can be used in sealed bags with stuff that couldn't be heat treated or inspected. Anyone know?

At now the best I can do is have a barrier of carpet tape around the bed, each leg in soapy water with carpet tape above the water level. Box spring in zippered covers, sheets pillow case coming out of dryer in 20 minutes. I'm trying to make a fortress of sorts here. I made the mistake of moving to the couch during the week while I was stocking up on supplies (2 cans of pro aerosol, 200g of Insectigone DE, Steam blaster, 1500watt heatgun, vinyl mattress covers, metal frame and double sided carpet tape) I still want to get steri fab and kleen free and konk and bed risers. Nothing is toching the floor execpt the legs in the dishes of water. But this is going to be the first night back in the room in a week any I bet they are going to be savage trying to get to me tonight however the infested headboard is outside but I don't know how many are in here. What about the pro aerosol around the barrier of carpet tape? Can carpet tape be dusted with Insectigone DE if im careful not to step in it? My insectigone hand an "ATTRACTANT" in it.

spec sheets and material safety data sheet (MSDS) here (last item):
http://www.nugropro.com/products/product_view_e.php?market=Pest%20Control&app_id=2&subapp_id=6Make sure this is the same formulation you have!
It is not labeled for use on pillows or sheets. I would be extremely wary of using pesticides except as labeled. They can be very dangerous. Note also the safety prevautions on the MSDS. This can have a negative effect on your skin (which is probably why you're trying to get rid of bed bugs, right?)
For what it's worth, I also recommend people get a qualified PCO to treat for bed bugs. They really can be hard to treat and persistent. One pesticide or other treatment is unlikely to be enough. Most PCOs use a combination of sprays, dusts, and other methods.

Well I found nothing on the bed, walls or sticky tape but Im also hella tired and didn't look all that close. I will later after work though. The reason I was wondering about spraying the sheets is because the can says to spray it on the mattress focusing on seams and tufts but then again after spaying the mattress you would put s sheet over it anyway. I would really like to have a pro come in and hell work was even willing to foot the bill for a PCO. The only reason I can't is I have 2 tarantulas and a scorpion and they would all have to be out for 6 hours and I have been unsuccessful trying to find some to take them for the day the place would be sprayed. Also I have to pull everything out 2 feet from the wall and the table that has the aquarium with water in it will be LITERALLY impossible to move even an inch.
So now if they can't get to me at night I'm guessing they are going to start chasing me while I'm at my computer now??
BTW thank you so much for that link. I had no problem finding any MSDS for all of the other product I looked at but of course had no luck finding the sheet for the one product I actually have. I haven't sprayed any yet though because Im nervous to use this stuff because of my "pets". -
No--they mean spray the mattress directly--esp. the seams where bed bugs hang out. An even better idea is to try and clean them off the seams. If you do that with something else, then dry thoroughly, the next day you could use this stuff. But it is not for spraying on the sheets--they do not mean it should have contact with your skin. That would be very bad.
If your bed is isolated and you are inaccessible there, they will seek you when you sit in chairs. Still, many people prefer this to being bitten in bed.

and make sure they have to cross poison to get to you - since your lovely pets are in cages, some DE at the bottom of your desk chair legs wouldn't get to them. I dusted the underside of my computer chair.

Well when I got home I found 3 small ones on the monitor board that is WITHIN the tape barrier but none spotted on the bed itself........................yet.
So can I spread DE on the carpet around the computer area and still walk on it?? Also what about spreading DE on the 2 sided tape in case any do somehow cross the barrier of tape?? So far on the carpet tape I have only found 1 spider and 2 woodlouse. Haven't checked the dishes of water the frame legs are sitting in as they are kind of inaccessible since I put the bed on it. -
Does water at the wheels of the bed stop them?
I thought it was mineral oil or Vaseline. I think these are are bit viscous or googy and harder to get out of, hence trapping them.

soapy water

"
So can I spread DE on the carpet around the computer area and still walk on it??"Read the FAQ on DE (FAQs button below) if you have not.
It isn't something you want your skin in regular contact with--it can irritate (dry).
Spreading on a carpet probably not as effective as on cracks. And you don't want it to be puffing up and getting inhaled. -
Spreading on tape might not make sense. The point of DE is it sticks to the bugs and cuts their exoskeleton. If it sticks to the tape then it won't stick to them.
-
My idea behind that was the DE would stick to the tape but so would the bugs. the more they fight against the tape the more DE they are rubbing into themselves and the quicker they will cut themselves open, dehydrate and DIE. I didnt mean covering all the tape but just using a thin strip down the middle of the tape.
-
DE dehydrates bed bugs. But we're told it takes ten days or so. Bed bugs do not necessarily stick to tape, and I don't think they're likely to if something is on the tape, making it less sticky.
