Will climb-ups salvage my already invested couch?
(2 posts)-
The maintenance in my building suggested I throw away my couch. Had PCO treatment this weekend and have my 2nd PCO treatment next week. But I saw a live bed bug on my couch this morning.
I sleep on my couch, because the maintenance guy threw away my bed. And all that did was spread the bugs to my couch! So I just don't agree with him regarding now throwing away my couch. They are just going to keep following me, but I am worried the PCO treatments won't work if I do have an invested couch already.
Will climb-ups help at all when the bugs are already in my couch? I am going away for the weekend (4 days) and I am hoping what will happen is that they will get hungry, climb down, get stuck in the climb-ups and die.Its not that I am attached to the couch or anything, I just don't see throwing it out as solving a problem. If I have to waste anymore money than I might as well just move and Vikane my stuff.

Climbup Interceptors (tm) are designed to catch a bed bug when it tries to climb onto or off of the furniture via its legs.
I am not an expert, but if bed bugs are being fed on the sofa, they have no reason to leave it.
In four days, I think it would be highly unlikely that bed bugs would seek out a new host. After all, each one only needs to feed about once a week or so (depending on temperature and other conditions). They won't be ravenous enough to go over to your neighbors in four days, if that's what you're thinking.
You might try to catch some with an active monitor like the Bed bug Beacon while you're away, but remember this won't eliminate the problem, though it may catch some.
