    Hi,
I was wondering where I can buy DE and something to apply it with in CANADA. I have called the hardware stores but they don't seem to carry pure DE, just some insecticides which contain some DE.

I also looked on Amazon, but the Canadian site didn't seem to have any DE. I suppose I could order it from the States? Any Canadians here find a good place to get BB fighting tools?!

In Toronto, I got mine at a green-friendly-type store that sells all natural organic stuff: linens, baby diapers, candles etc along with natural cleaning products. It's not a food store though. It's near the Big Carrot on Danforth at Chester.

Can't recall the name but it's right by the Book City store.

If you're not in T.O. then maybe call some 'earthy' stores?

Since it's easy to land here when people are trying to buy DE I'll just say for people not in Toronto, or rather for people in New York (Shout to the Greenpoint massive!) that I couldn't find it in any store here and got it online. Plenty of places. I think in more rural communities you can find it at a feed store, as it's fed to pigs etc. Make sure it's food grade/freshwater. (Lowes sells swimming pool DE in some places but that stuff is bad.)

I live in Canada (Vancouver) and I remember seeing it somewhere. Hmm, maybe Canadian Tire? I'll do some checking!

Come to think of it....it's NOT pure DE that I saw, just contains it.....and you want the pure stuff I believe? My guess would be home and garden stores?

In Toronto the store by BOOKCITY on Danforth is Grassroots! They even explain extensively how to apply it with a sieve because apparently bugs work in shadows they see a big thing in their way they go around it.

Hi Scared and Frustrated, I live in the US. My sister lives in Toronto. Of course, I never shared with her my bb experience. We're two different people, kind of like night and day... That's neither here nor there... Anyways, I'm not sure if the local farmers in your area use the food grade DE, but try a feed store. It's much cheaper that way, but Use extreme caution!!! ONLY USE THE FOOD GRADE! Anything else could be hazardous! If not, you can buy it online from dirtworks.net. I bought some and you can purchase the application tools too. I just irradicated my entire infestation with it, so I highly recommend it... Of course, I used it beyond recommendation... (NOT ADVISED)... just saying... Good Luck...

I bought some at Home Depot, called "Chemfree Insectigone Crawling Insect Killer" 200g bottle.
Ingredients 80%DE and an attractant (powdered milk) I suppose to deal with cockroaches and silverfish etc. I don't think BB's are interested in that. Works fine for me.

Seconding Grassroots -- they also have a location on Bloor, between Spadina and Bathurst. That's where I went tonight to pick up some DE. Very very friendly and helpful staff -- she'd even been through it before herself, and was able to walk me through everything.

you can buy DE online at Canada-bedbugs.com
they are located in BC but ship to anywhere in Canada and if you are located in Vancouver it might even get to you the next day
the bottle I got is 500ml but it is going pretty far in my never-ending quest to prevent a re-emergence of bed bugs

After trying home depot, pharmacies, walmart, canadian tire, TSC, etc to no available (but very helpful staff), Antler in Brantford was the only place I found in the 'burbs that carries it. So much more comfortable trying something natural as opposed to those horrid chemical sprays, especially since it is not an infestation yet, just a couple brought home from nowhere less than Toronto

Animal feed stores are a good bet, Antler in Brantford is a pest control company but has a retail store so anything like that is a good place to start.
