Holy moly. I feel like moving is like orchestrating a symphony...bear with me, guys. This is a little long, but I'd love for your input!

I spoke to BB&Beyond this morning, as well as Moving Right Along. I think I'm leaning towards the chamber fumigation, since it isn't moved out of the vault it's packed into to be fumigated somewhere else, only to have to be packed back up to travel back to me (something I was worried about). I also made SURE to ask about the chemical data sheet, how they monitor the gas, and that I needed to have the sheet in my hot little hand to make sure they did it right. A dog is coming to my new apartment to make sure nothing is in there now, and all the cracks and crevices are being sealed up. Everything is being packed in cardboard (most things are being packtited before, just to make extra sure), many items are being tossed (in carefully marked bags... after packtiting or washing, anyway), and I'm debating what furniture I really need to take. CDs are being taken out of their cases, pictures are being de-framed, nothing in plastic, everything is going in. I'm seeing this as a good time to do a summer cleaning and rid myself of stuff that's just... extra.

Here's where it gets tricky, and I'd love the advice of the sensitive, aware, smart people on this board. I'm leaving on Tuesday to go visit my bf in London for a week. This trip was planned way back before I knew I could move into my new apartment on July 1. I return from London on June 23. BB&Beyond only does the fumigation on the weekends... the weekend after I COULD move in is July 4th weekend, and they're not working. Of course. I technically can't get into my new apartment until July 1, but I was thinking of calling and seeing if the guy who lives there before me is going to be out by June 24 (I'm on good terms with the super, as well as the guy who lived there before me) and I could get in early. That way, I could have the PCO with the k9 come by on the 24th, and caulk and seal on the 25th/26th. If this worked, BB&Beyond could pick up my stuff on the 26th, and return it the 29th. Happy happy camper, I'd be.

If I CAN'T get in early, that means I wouldn't be able to vikane and move until the weekend of July 10th. "It's not that much longer," you may say. But after doing bed bugs for 6 months, I was really excited to have such little time left in this apartment. An extra week won't kill me, of course, but it would have been nice to get out even sooner.

So, here's my question. If I CAN get into my apartment earlier, should I do it? That would give me only 2 days to prepare for Vikane after I return from London. Is 2 days too short a time? Should I just suck it up and wait until the weekend of the 10th? I've asked my friends and family, but they don't really understand, and I wanted the opinion of people who have had some experience...

Nevermind! Found out that I'm getting back a day later from my trip than I thought, and 1 days is definitely not enough time to prepare. That's ok, I guess. I'm just going to wait until the weekend of the 10th, which gives me a good two weeks to prepare for the move. My little brother said he'll talk to me on the phone every night of that last week, for support. :)
