When it Rains..... (LICE)
(7 posts)-
Lice are gone thank god. It only took one week, 2 Nix treatments and daily combing with the nit removal comb.
ARGH, on another unrelated note, I realized today that I must sue my ex-boyfriend because he hasn't been making payments on a loan I co-signed. Hindsight is 20/20 right? NEVER co-sign for anyone. period.

I don't know how you do it? You are truly amazing. Since the bugs I can't focus on anything, even normal day to day stuff. That's terrible about the default - what a jerk! I'm glad you got the lice under control.

I have had the previous ones but have to admit a slight fascination with the concept of tape worms although not enough to go and volunteer for an infection.
On the head lice front public perception of them has really changed in the UK in the last 7 years and they now heavily advertise on TV and it’s a lot more socially accepted that if there are children about there will be head lice somewhere.
Glad to hear they are gone though.

Wow. I just feel for everyone here all the time and have to say I, too, would take lice any day over the bed bugs and I would even take the tape worm. Trying to keep the bbugs somewhat supressed is my most realistic goal and I have been at that for 18 months! Living in Bolivia and working in the countryside, I have had my fair share of parasites, including tapeworm. The funny part about the worm is that once you know what the problem is, they are very easy to get rid of with the right anthelminthic. It is what you have to go through to realize that a worm has taken up residence is the hard part... In some of my lower moments I think, well, the bbs at least live around me, not in me! Damn critters. Good luck to everyone.

DavidI'm working on getting scabies next. Maybe I'll have time for tape worm after that LOL

Hi Marixpress,
It’s a condition I can recommend. I would however say that from personal experience you need to take the following into account:
- Get up early on your treatment day
- Wash all the sheets and clothes above 60 degrees centigrade
- Have a warm shower, dry off and apply a complete layer of the appropriate treatment
- Sit around the house on plastic seats till it is time to wash off the treatment
- Get on with life as normal after that
Although there is strictly no reason to remain in the house while you are being treated I would advise it. They often use the same product for scabies as they do with pubic lice and the smell is shall we say distinctive. I would hate to think of anyone in line at the checkout only to have those around mumble something about having crabs.
Suffice to say it is now company policy to check the property prior to shaking hands with customers.
The difficulty with scabies is that the first time it can take a month to show the signs that you are infected. The second, third and fourth time around though they do tend to come up overnight from the exposure event.
Maybe we should have a sponsored tape worm session. A prize for the longest one or for the greatest induced weight loss. Just a few ideas to bounce around. In fact I have a friend in the DRC at the second maybe she could bring one back with her.
