When does this fight end?!
(10 posts)-
I've been fighting BBs for about 3 months now and it seems like it never ends. I even invested in Diatomaceous Earth and that seemed to work but since I've put the DE down around my bed I've found 2 full size BBs. Now I'm finding really tiny baby bed bugs that are like the size of a grain of sand. They just keep appearing out of nowhere. I've killed about 10 little baby BBs but they seem to keep popping up. Any advice on how I should get rid of them? This is so annoying because my bed frame is a light brown wood frame which they blend into. I haven't slept in my bed in 3 weeks. I have just been sleeping on my two office chairs which are right next to my bed. I miss sleeping in my bed!! I just want my sleep life back. I went from 6-7 hrs of sleep to 2-3 hrs tops! I'm paranoid all the time and even broke out in stress hives. Any advice would be great.

Hey kitkat, afraid I think the best bit of advice I can give you is to hire a reputable pco ... you'll get bugfree, but you only by understanding bedbugs and using a decent pco

Dear kitkat,
I'm sorry you are goignt through this situation. Below are some comments for your consideration:
> If you can afford one, call a reputable pest professional.
> Where are you located? (perhaps we can refer you to a pro in your area)
> If resources are a concern, there are things you can do to reclaim your bed and your life if you're willing to do the work necessary.
Hope this helps ! paul b.

Right now a pco is way out of my budget :(. But hopefully I can find where the eggs are and finally get rid of these things.

P Bello, I'm located in VA. I wish I could afford a pco but it's just not in my budget. Plus I heard they weren't always effective. Also, any advice would be helpful.

P Bello, I'm located in VA. I wish I could afford a pco but it's just not in my budget. Plus I heard they weren't always effective.I can completely understand not being able to afford a PCO. However, I do want to respond to the idea that "they're not always effective."
Bed bug treatment can fail for all kinda of reasons. Yes, some PCOs are less experienced than others. A few (and this seems to be a minority) have weird ideas about which tools to use.
However, it's not logical to assume that people with no experience and knowledge of bed bugs would have an easier time. (That may not be what you meant, but we have heard it said around here before.)
Most PCOs are probably going to do a better job of eliminating bed bugs than most people with zero experience and background.
Anyway, if you must self-treat, people here have had success with steam and other methods. It's a lot of work but can pay off. I am not an expert and can't advise on pesticides though some of the PMPs here may be able to.
We have FAQs including some on methods of treatment (steam, DE, etc.)

@Nobugsonme- Thanks for the advice! I will definately be looking into the steam treatments.

Remember steam is a contact killer. So you will
need to hit all bed bugs/eggs with steam in order to eliminate the problem. The resources page (especially the Comprehensive Guides section) should help if you are trying to learn how to find and kill them.

hello nobugson me,

DE kills over a period of days. You should also thoroughly vacuum you're house before laying down DE.
DE can be applied in cracks and crevices. You can also apply it to your bed frame where the bugs may travel to and fro. DE is usually used in conjunction with pesticides for optimal elimination.
