I am devastated by this and can't even think of going through this again or the thought I may have brought it to someone else's home. Either way I'm going to call my friend tonight.

    Long story short:
I moved from my last apartment b/c of bed bugs (confirmed infestation, several treatments), taking nothing with me. Even bought and changed clothes before entering "new" apartment. Currently staying at friend's apartment while he is away.

Everything ok for first several weeks. Yesterday, woke up with what appear to be two large BB bites. . . have never had any bites like these other than when I had BBs. I've had hives the last few weeks, but these are probably bites--swollen, with a spot in the middle.

No idea how this could have happened. Haven't told friend yet. Want to have a plan b/f I do.

    Options:
    1. Tell landlord right away. But with no physical evidence other than bites (went over apartment with flashlight, but he has lots of stuff, so lots of hiding places), what reason would landlord have to get it checked out?

    2. Get active monitor of some sort, wait on telling landlord.

    3. Hire someone independently to go over apartment looking for evidence.

    4. Text "Think your place has bedbugs. Also I ate all the salsa." Leave town forever.

Obviously time is a factor; I know I have to get in front of this. Thanks for any advice.

Thought I would acknowledge your post. I read it and I emphathize. I hope things work out. Remember, bites alone cannot confirm bedbugs.
Let your friend tell the landlord unless you are an official tenant.
    Buy passive monitors.
Keep watch, and, yes, maybe get a professional inspection.
    Good luck.
