Sitting at my desk, I saw a little tiny (barely 1 mm) opaque bug crawling across the top of a sheet of white paper. I wanted to save it to look more carefully - but it was crawling so fast - I smashed it with my finger. Then I saw another little speck - even smaller - barely a little dot - crawling. Again - smashed. Then another one - about the same size as the first. Before killing it, I looked to see if it resembled an instar. I don't think it did - the legs, antennae. What else could it be?

I'm a bit paranoid b/c a rather famous bedbug-sniffing dog once "alerted" in our bedroom. We never found any evidence of a bed bug - no fecal stains, bites, actual bugs - nothing. That was almost 2 months ago. Still, I'm paranoid whenever I see a bug. So what are some common little clear bugs?

Pics of psocids show a definite head. I didn't or couldn't see a clear head.

    Odd beetles, psocids, roach nymphs.

Blech - all pretty gross - but guess better than bedbugs.

Well, I found some more - including castings and/or old dead bugs. I found them along the biding of a legal pad and along a book spine. I found a live one and stared at it long enough before killing it to see that it looked more like the pics of psocids I've seen online and not like the 1st instar on this site. I can't be certain however. Does the fact that I've found them mostly hiding amongst paper and there is no evidence of fecal droppings or bites suggest that this is likely a psocid problem?

You can also try putting your finger down near it.
See if the bug moves toward your finger or away.

psocids would probably moved away, but bed bugs would move toward you
