A lot of posts go through the procedure of inspecting and then discovering a harborage of bb's. These posts always sort of stop short right then and there usually expressing disgust and plans to get a PCO.
If one or two are found the poster often says they just squish them. I'm wondering what to have handy IF and when I should encounter a harborage of several during an inspection. I can't imagine just
recoiing in horror and then letting them stew for days on end until a PCO can accomodate an appointment. That and the fact that if I have disturbed them during an inspectin they may also scatter. Vacuum them up? Spray them? Any ideas please?!

I've never found harborage, so I have no advice other than to be ready. Make sure you have a contact killer close at hand. Check the spray so you don't experience a release delay.

For eggs, you'll need a vacuum that has good suction and hand attachments.

    Good luck!

i'd scream first... Then run... And Scream again.... grab the tape and tape them where they are .... Then have one of the other older family members spray them DEAD... you don't want live bugs in your vacuum... BUT that is me...I don't do well with chemicals....
What would you spray them with??????

This forum provides many answers to those two questions. There are lots of contact killers, the most common of which is alcohol (is it 91% isopropyl?) I think Bedlam, too.

Regarding the vacuum, again the forum has instructions for collecting eggs in a stocking, like a lady's knee-hi, that protects your vacuum cleaner.

from Doug Summers a year ago:

A nylon knee stocking can be used as a filter on a hose wand system. Place the stocking inside of the hose & hold it in place by slipping the plastic nozzle onto the end of the hose. The nylon stocking will catch the specimens & can be thrown away without contaminaing the vacuum.

There's more. Use the search function to find "nylon stocking".
