Okay, so now that I've read more on the forums I'm all tweaked out about the fact that both our and my daughter's bed have wooden slat bed bases. Ours is finished, hers is raw pine. What could I use as a replacement that would hold a mattress but not allow the bb's to set up shop? Maybe some kind of compound material? I know plywood and particle are no good. Ideas?

I've seen patents out on one-piece plastic bed frames and am anxiously awaiting the day they get manufactured... In the meantime we settled for a cheap metal one $60 only b/c it is easy to inspect, and hey, it was $60! A lot less expensive than the almost new $4000 bedroom set that we tossed.
