Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Uncategorized
Well, I think I finally found the evidence: first bed bug today
(10 posts)-
I was moving my bed around in my bedroom, cleaning up and setting some glue traps, and look what I found behind my bed. I'm almost positive that it's a dead bed bug. I want to throw up. All this time I'd been hoping against hope that there was some other explanation for all this, but now it seems that I have actual evidence. I never want to sleep in that bed again.
Here are two photos of the bug (I flipped him over in the second picture). I'm pretty sure this is a bed bug, but can someone confirm it for me? I might as well get a confirmation and face the music.

I'm not an expert, but look more like a roach nymph to me.

Hi upagain. Thanks for your reply. What makes you think that it looks more like a roach nymph (also gross, but somehow less creepy than a bed bug)? Just seems to weird to me that I'd have a roach in my bedroom, when I haven't seen any others, anywhere (especially in the kitchen). I so desperately want to believe that this is ANYTHING but a bed bug, but the easiest explanation really does seem to be bed bug.

In the bottom right corner of the body (looking from top) it looks to have one of the now infamous "tail stubs". Also, the legs are spiney like a roach. If it was up to me not a bb, but I don;t want to say 100% to you because I am not an expert. Do a search on roach nymphs in this forum, you will find other people who look to have posted the same thing.

Thanks. I looked up some photos of roach nymphs online and found this:

In some ways the bug I found does look more like the roach nymph in this photo, with those long legs and long antennae. I'll do a search on this site for roach nymphs as well. Thanks so much again, upagain.

not an expert, but your bug definitely does not look like the 20 bbs i've caught to date... they don't have legs that long, not antennae like that too..... better get more clarification. good luck, hope you don't have bbs.
by the way, 2 days ago, we found a dead waterbug (also a roach) in our walk-in-closet right next to our bedroom, accessible only through the bedroom. there are water/heat pipes in there, meaning there must be holes in the floors/walls that lead to the floor below us, hence the entrance for the waterbug. our kitchen and bathroom are all the way at the other end of this room, so it's possible you get roaches in your bedroom - just dependent on many factors.

The more I look at it, the less it looks like a bedbug now. Of course, I'm sure a lot of that sudden change in perception is my wishful thinking that it's anything, ANYTHING other than a bed bug. I think I was just startled by the flat-ish body and the brown color and the striations on the back...I've never seen anything like that before and having looked at pictures of bed bugs for about three days straight, that was the first panicked thought that popped in my head when I found this thing behind my bed. It still might be a bed bug -- I'm having an exterminator look at it on Monday -- but you're right: there's something about the antennae and legs that looks different.
Thanks for writing back!

The experts will chime in but NOT a bedbug.
KillerQueen is on-line now and can confirm.

I don't think it's a bedbug, to view what a bedbug looks like check online but the ones I have, although the same colour have much shorter legs and antennae

It's a roach. The body shape in relation to the head, the legs, eyes, mouthparts, and the antenna are all dead giveaways.
