Vikane-is it the best way?
(5 posts)-
Yuck. I've got them and I want to get rid of them asap. I live in a two unit structure that could easily be tented.
Is Vikane the best way? My LL is very cooperative. Any experiences? -
We have had great success with Vikane two times. First, we had our minivan vikaned, and second, we had my in-laws house vikaned. Both were successful. If it wasn't so expensive in our area, we'd have our house done, too.

If your infestation isn't caught early, has potential in being in more than one room, imo, it's the way to go if it's possible for you. Saved our home and sanity.
Before considering Vikane fumigation, make sure common areas that you visit such as work, families/friends homes aren't infested if possible so that you don't reinfest yourself after such a huge expense. It can be costly depending on where you live.
For structure fumigation in the North East I don't think it's possible until spring due to the cold temps. -
Thermal can also be done and may or may not be comparable price-wise. Both thermal and vikane SHOULD be effective if done properly. They are not always done properly. Get references, make sure you have a good warranty, choose a company with lots of experience doing this.

Thanks! I live in a two unit dwelling built in the 1920's. I'm hoping we tent this place up and kill everything! I can't do this bb thing anymore. It's turning me into a hermit... a scabby hermit. The guy is coming tomorrow so I'll know what the game plan is. I'm still hoping all we're dealing with is a rogue spider...
