We are seriously looking into Vikane at this point. Of al the measures we are taking, trying ot find the time betwen fighting bugs that you cannot see, tending to babies..the $$ spent already is out of control totally. I probably could have VIkaned once already. We need to find a PCO who does this in NJ ASAP...ANyone know of anyone that we can try and contact? I called Terminex, the district manager in my area on the phone, tells me I dont have bugs, and that they do not provide ot (useless)Is it impossible to get this or what?

Paula...Why are they saying you don't have bugs???? I think that Vikaning your home would be a good solution...There was a woman in Chicago area who treated her home with something, not Vikane but she got rid of them..I have to run but I will research it later..

    Bugalina,
The woman in Chicago used Ozone. It may or may not be available there. Paula could call these people. Paula could call this company:
    http://www.cleanzonesystems.com/
and ask them if anyone is doing it where she is. But I would not be quick to say it is as effective as Vikane seems to be. This is the first I have heard of it.

But Vikane is available in the NJ area. First, read our FAQ:
    http://bedbugger.com/2007/04/06/vikane-gas-fumigation/

Dow nakes the Vikane, so calling them to see who's doing it might be a start--if they won't GO to NJ, then they may tell you who will. People are doing this--there was a newspaper article about NJ people gassing a building.
    http://bedbugger.com/2007/05/21/vikane-new-jersey/

The PCO was Royal Fumigation. So that's a good place to start.

I'd get an expert who does this for bed bugs as Royal did. Other firms do it for termites and sometimes they "say it's for termites" though it's for bed bugs. That is a bad idea, since Dow claims the bed bug fumigation takes 3x as much vikane.

Bugalina, ps -- anything you have seen on the blog is easy to search for--there's a search box on the main page. (There's one on the forums too, but if you saw something on the blog, I'd look there first, since that search engine is better.)

Does anyone know if Vikane gas is available in the Cincinnati, OH area? And is it available in small quantities that I could buy and use on my own for gassing household items, you know put them onto a plastic bag and gas them before closing the bag tightly?

    Good idea or not?

    Bill

MrBill0626. Vikane can only be used by highly trained specialist for it is a DEADLY gas when in use. Look up the website for Dow, the company that makes the fumigant. You can aske them what companies may be avail in your area. I know some companies allow you to load up a truck and they gas the whole truck. (very loosly packed, uncovered, FULLY exposed items..) Search google for vikane and bedbugs..that may bring you to DOW's webpage

You mean they would gas the back of the truck or van that you're carrying your belongings in and then close the back door(s), so that when you reach your new home you just open up the back door of the van and start unloading? Is that safe? And would that work with a U-Haul van do you think? Know anyone who has done that? I'll check out Dow's web site or something about Vikane gas.

    Thanks

    Mr Bill.

No, Not possible. It must be done by a licensed professional. It can kill you if you have any contact, so it would not be available to you. Read the FAQs, Bill. From what I have seen so far, all of your questions are answered there.

    Bill,

They don't gas the back of the truck and you drive away with it. What happens is you drive to a place that uses vikane and park your truck in their lot. They then wrap the truck with some kinda plastic tarp that does not allow the vikane to leak out and saturate the inside of the truck and tarp with vikane and lock it in for 24 hours. Then they airout the truck for 12 hours and after it has been aired out for that long you can pick it up and drive it home. There is supposed to be no residue/smell/etc, but you cannot put any food items in the truck.
