Vacuum Filters
(4 posts)-
So I'm going to begin vacuuming. I've read that vacuums with bags are better but unfortunately, I only have a bagless one. After I vacuum I plan on cleaning the canister, but what about the filter? The manual says that you can launder the filter in warm water with a mild detergent by hand, but obviously that won't kill any bbs, let alone eggs. Any suggestions? Just wash the filter as best as I can, and hope I get all bugs and possible eggs out? Can I do this in the sink or tub?

There are other posts here re decontaminating bagless.
All you need is 120F water. Boil some in a pot. -
Thanks cilecto. I'm sure that will work for the container but the manual says to only use 'warm water' for the filter, suggesting 120F water or hotter is too hot.
I ended up cleaning the filter as best as I could, which turned out to be a lot harder than I thought -- if there were any bed bugs in it, they could easily still be in there -- and then bagged the filter and container in Ziploc bags until next use.
It's obviously not an ideal solution but right now it's the best I have. I'll have to be very careful when I take the filter out of the bag and put it back on the container.

Hope you let it dry first you don't want mold on top of BB's... What about a blow dryer will that work..does it get hot enough...
