My exterminator came for the 2nd time and he dry steamed my mattress with the encasement still on it. Does this work when the other side of the encasement is a vinyl type material?

    Interesting question.

I've read it's the heat that kills the bugs, not the steam. Steam delivers the heat. As you ask, if the steam can't get through the encasement, then how can it deliver the heat? Doesn't seem likely to me.

If the encasement in completely sealed, then the bed bugs inside it are just supposed to be waiting 18 months to die. [Bed Bug band playing "Nearer my God to Thee."]

BB's can still setup harborages and lay eggs on the outside of the encasement (I've seen the pictures)so steaming would get the encasement clean.
