So I found an apartment and am moving out tomorrow, my sister is helping me. I need to have all my belongings treated to make sure I don't bring the bugs to the new place. Today i found signs that my car is infested as well. On friday it was 95 degree in Los Angeles and I was able to leave the car outside all day, so maybe all the bugs in my car has been killed as well, but I want to have my car treated just to be sure.

Is there any PCO in Los Angeles area that can help treating the bugs while moving? I know lots of moving company/PCO in NY and East Coast that offer that service, but can't find any here LA so far. Contacted Isotech they said they don't treat cars, just let the car bake under the sun for a few hours should take care of the problem. Weather is not that great though I was lucky to get the car out in time on Friday. Next "hot day" won't come for another week.

I do have a paktite and plan to treat everything in the paktite before sealing them in a plastic container. I'll also have alochol spray ready to wipe the container before bringing to my new place. But somehow I feel that's not enough. I need a professional to help me - can anybody please recommend?

Is your main concern getting the car treated or getting the stuff treated or both?

This post links to websites of ThermaPure and Temp-Air, with lists or a contact form for finding a local provider.

I'm not sure if anyone uses Vikane gas fumigation in LA, but this might be another option. Of the two companies I am aware of that arrange these services around the country (Bed Bug Fumigation Services and Bed Bugs and Beyond), I think only Bed bugs and beyond works on the west coast right now. You could try calling them: http://www.bedbugsandbeyond.com/contact.html

Disclaimer: I have not used them and this is not an endorsement!

It may be possible to find local firms which use Vikane to treat a car or truck of stuff, if Vikane is legal there, but it may be hard to find one quickly without going through a service like that.

    Good luck!

Thank you nobug! I'm concerned with treating both my stuff and the car, though I'm less concerned with my stuff since I'm treating them with packtite/dryer/ziplocking all stuff and putting them in plastic container, so even if bugs/eggs didn't die from packtite they're well-isolated.

Isotech did get back to me and they do use Vikane. The downside however is they would have to take my stuff away for a day but I need to move tomorrow. Work has only granted me one day leave (and frankly I don't want to stay at this BB infested apartment one more day). Also Isotech has no experience in treating cars so I'm not sure they'll be the one to go.

Thermal treatment will be ideal for my car, since it shouldn't take them long, I will try both websites you provided. Thank you so much for responding to me again at time of needs, I really appreciate it!

Please wish me luck that I'll move without bringing any BB with me...

    Good luck.

I am not sure that treating cars is very common. We have heard before of firms who would not use Vikane or heat on cars. Some will.

People often seem to have a moving truck or pod fumigated with Vikane. Heat treatment is not unknown for trucks of stuff.

Your plans to Packtite other items should work if you handle them carefully and use the Packtite as directed, not overpacking it and monitoring the temperature with the probe at the core of the items.

I wish you the best of luck Helpless and that you are able to move without bringing any of the little vampires with you. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Thanks nobug - I'm being very careful. I heat everything in packtite up to 135/136 degree F in core measurement, then take them out and put them in ziplock bag, fully sealed, then put in a plastic container bin. I plan to treat those clothing again once I'm in the new place with paktite, and continue to live out of those plastic bags for a while. Hopefully that's enough precaution - I can't really imagine doing anything more. My biggest worry is my car, which I know for a fact is infected. I've already contacted both sources and Bugsandbeyond and spoke to a couple of representatives, but no response yet from the PCO themselves. Guess it's too late on a sunday night and I'll probably have to contact them again tomorrow morning.

Thank you bedbugpanic! Your good wish is much much appreciated! I'll need everybit of luck I can get...with these little blood suckers, one can only do his/her best and pray for the rest....
