I'm moving the end of this week to my new house, the first (of 3) treatment was yesterday. I slept like a baby (in the literal meaning, however: very uneasily, noisily, sweatily and annoyed. no crying, as far as I know, perhaps some snoring though :-) ) mostly because I was too tired to sleep, going from my old to my new address and back constantly, moving the cat, working in the new house constantly, the never ending fear of that fifty-thousandth itch to be a bedbug or not, removing an electrical switch to clean it fearing to find bugs behind it...

Don't get me wrong, I'm finally feeling a bit optimistic, the end is near, just 2 more treatments here, and then one more in the new house, and all should be well. I even put money aside for 3 more treatments in the new house, just in case.
I know, however, that seeing one live bug in the new house (or even in the old one) will freak me the hell out.

I don't know what product the PCO used, but he seemed very professional, serious and with only one goal in mind: spray all I can.
He sprayed some insecticide that's rather fluid, behind and on seats and sofa's, on the wooden floors, it stayed wet for several hours after, and from what I learned, it stays active several days after the treatment. He'll return twice every 14 days, which should be enough to do the trick.

This saturday or so I'll move my cleaned and bagged clothes and a plastic box of plates and glasses and a mighty fine collection of 10 crystal decanters to put in my brand new dining room :-) to sleep in my new bugfree and plastic-encased bed, in a house quite thoroughly cleaned ànd maintained, with someone who actually cares about cleaning and does a good job. Amazingly she's my girlfriend as well, which makes things much nicer also :)

Things are looking very very bright. But anyone who's had a decent problem with bed bugs will understabnd my constant paranoia and skepticism.

Ah well. One more month of crossing fingers, then after the last treatment, 110 more days of crossing fingers (I always like playing safe, might as well double the 55 days), then I'm quite going to celebrate.

The paranoia will stay with you for awhile. I've been in my new place since Saturday, and still check thoroughly through out the new place every night and every morning. Sleeping on a new bed is awesome, and I too protected the mattresses - one plastic cover on the boxspring, a dust mite protector and mattress pad on the top mattress. I'd like to see anything try and get through that. Eventually, I figure the fear will fade as time goes on. I worry less and less each day, but still stop when I see a red piece of lint on the floor from my washer/dryer. The clothes I haven't had a chance to wash yet sit in plastic bags, I may just suck the air out and leave it for as long as I need to. Everything else is stored in plastic bins (paperwork, movies/cds) until I have proper shelves. But god, the feeling of a nice, new, clean building and home is refreshing. I hope it works for you.
