Toronto hates bed bugs

I feel like I have aids or something, just feel so alone. I am so embarrassed about the whole damn thing and just wanted to know if anyone else in my area is experiencing this bullshit.

Insomniac,
It's just a temporary thing, look at it like that. Before you know it you'll be back to normal( whatever that is).You aren't alone there are many people in this boat,so many in fact that we should all band together to do anything we can to get people moving and shaking the powers that be to help stop the plague of bb's.I'm sorry you're going through this,I hope we will all be living bb free lives soon.Take care -
Insomniac,
Please read the response I wrote to you here:
http://bedbugger.com/forum/topic/what-is-it-about-bb?replies=31#post-21601If you live in Toronto, I'd be surprised if you're the first in your set to experience this. It is a HUGE problem there, and the government is even taking serious action about it. Tell a friend.
I hope you are getting good professional treatment so this will be gone soon.

hey there. i'm not in TO but about an hour or so away. i definitely went through the same feelings as you, and at first i didn't tell people about what i was dealing with. lately my feelings on that have been changing, and i've been telling people right and left. i figure, if i don't tell them, who will? i had no idea what bbs even were until i had them, and i would not want my family, friends and coworkers to be in that same situation.
to be honest, dealing with it alone with no suppport from friends (because you haven't told them) gets to you in a hurry. i eventually broke down and told a friend, and she was amazing. she helped me clean, helped me move furniture for treatments, and more (all with proper precautions to make sure she didn't take them home, of course!). after that experience, i started telling more people. it's too hard to hide it from people all the time, and it increases the feeling that you have something to be ashamed of when you don't. this isn't your fault, and sooner or later it will happen to most people. best we educate everyone we can by sharing the story.
i wish you the best of luck, i know how frustrating and lonely it is. my advice is to start talking to people! it will feel awkward at first, but then it will feel better.

A sad fact is that bedbugs are everywhere! From New York to San Fransisco and Florida to Canada. All points in between. That is where I live, smack dab in the middle of the country and they are here too. I never once felt like I was an outcast. I had a wonderful support system and the neighbors were incredible to. Believe it or not, The neighbors at the apartment complex weren't even worried about sharing a washer with me. I made sure to let everyone know what the bedbugs were and how damaging they are to a family and to finances. My sister was a God-send and was there whenever I needed her. I did also have friends that would visit and I did tell them but I was more important than the bugs. It is very good for the soul to be able to live as normally as possible and to keep your sanity, Invest in a great friend and let them know what has been bothering you. Let them help you and you will start to see things in a different light. Keep your head up and Good luck! The bugs aren't here forever!

thanks for the responses guys, your support is really helping me with this. i have told my family and they are very supportive. i am educating them on it too, as i live in a small apt so prep for the PCO was alot easier than if my family got it in their house. that would take weeks.

another thing that keeps my hopes up is that there are probably alot of people out there who were able to get rid of the problem so fast and easy, and those people wouldnt be as obsessed as us to be in a bed bug forum. so we are only hearing about the horror stories.

That's very true, insomniac.
