Yes please adhere to Nobugs words of wisdom, or mean old entomologists write nasty things like RTFB or RTFFAQS when questions that have been answered numerous times and are available in the faqs keep reoccurring, Of course good natured people like NoBugs, David, Lou, Paul, Effeci and others
keep answering you should check the blog first. Just saying.
BTW "RTFB" is derived fro RTFM which = Read The Fraking Manual

Went back 2yrs , lol, altho noted 7 months back too..Thanks Winston!

Ok, my new great idea for the day . . . how about a "White Stickies" section?! It can go right under the Green Stickies section and only contain this thread! It will look just like the "discussion" threads but remain at the top!

    genius!

Ok, seriously, I know you would have already done that if it were possible. But I do think I still like the scrolling banner idea . . . the banner could go under the Green Stickies and before the discussion threads and contain a link to this thread with a "All Newbites Please Read" type thing!

The new software will be a different setup but let's think about how to implement this once there. I deputize you as the official reminderer.

I started and run the site but am "not an expert."

My view is that people who are extremely sleep deprived and stressed out won't read, or more importantly "digest" the FAQS.

I work in an area where people come in FREAKED out, and my philosopy is to repeat the key issues at least once a week (in writing and in person). One of my co-workers that I support said the other day, "You said the EXACT same thing a week ago. He acknowledged he was asking you the EXACT same thing as a week ago...how do you not scream?". I just try to remember people don't learn well when stressed out.

    They
    Are
    Out
    There
    = TAOT

. . . And . . . Yet . . . they are there because they are Frequently Asked Questions! And they are there to help people!! And they are there to help people help themselves!!!

Ok . . . I may have been being a teeny tiny bit sarcastic there.

Though SERIOUSLY!! . . . I get what TAOT is saying!!! Truly I do! I was there! And when I first came upon the forum I was so f'n relieved that I found someone somewhere to ask my questions that I didn't even SEE the FAQs! . . . much less read them!

But then the more I read the forum and the more others mentioned "read the FAQs" OMG it was amazing!

I personally stick around and try to help people here because I vividly remember how stressed I was, how anxious I was, how overwhelmed with anything bed bug related I was . . . so I want to help people not to be like I was!

However, as much as I want to help people and as much as I understand how very anxious and stressed they are . . . . it is very hard sometimes not to lash out (perhaps by being sarcastic) when you have participated here for a while and see the same questions over and over and over.

Therefore, I do believe I see how the professionals and experts that volunteer their time here can get frustrated. . . . so although they are here to help people (for free) . . . they are human and it's gets frustrating.

So, IMO, it's a little like "Yes we want to help you (that's why we volunteer our time here in the first place), but the information is available, so at least help yourself a little bit first."

That's just my take on it anyway, after being here for awhile.

Dear Nobugs, in regards to the new software implementation and the potential new scrolling banner once the new software is in place . . .

Could we possibly add the following quotes to the scrolling banner:

    ItsJustABug -  »
    Abs is truly amazing!

    – and –

    Nobugsonme - »
    . . . genius! [referring to Abs]

Just say’n I think they would make a lovely addition to the banner (and the fact that it would in all probability make TAOT’s head explode . . . well . . . )

Yes Abs what you say is true :-)..I get that in my profession all the time, and try to be patient while wanting to scream as well :-)..

I work a lot just to keep my self on my feet as we all do.
I started school to better my life, then my PC took a crap on my plans :?, so I work extra & got my 1st laptop .
That has been an adventure on its on,brand new & it had problems. Got the computer bugs straightened 1/2 way into the class, I managed to pass with an A. Then worked extra for $ for next 2 classes.
It all came to a halt with bedbugs, school $ went to mattress encasement's & bb stuff.
snaity went out window ..now I'm working even more to recoup before March when I can get back in school.
I was stressed out over new laptop & online forum part of school ,then added bb stress & isolation they cause, the forum was kinda like a lifesaver for me.If I would have read all the info I should have before posting & making a connection to some sanity I don't think I'd be where I am today relating to quality of life.
I can never thanks you all enough for the time & all I've learned here..
I'll do my best to get educated on the how to's & FAQ...

It used to be things that go bump in the night that gave us a fright .
But now it a tiny little thing called bedbugs that keep us up all night.
All I can do is hold my teddy bear tight , and wait for daylight.
The morning brings in the sun and oh what a welcome sight.

    bumping it up
